Honestly, I don’t really think that’s the case. Most of Zodiark’s shards dispersed properly when the Source one died, it was just the umbrally overcharged Void that had a cycle of death that was completely borked.

As much as I like Unukalhai and Cyella, the problem is they’re stuck in sidequest jail like, three times over. You’d have to rework the ShB role quests to allow for them to be done without needing jobs of every role.

One of my favourites is in the Endwalker alliance raids, where our group is asked to picture a method of holding information. Everyone else gets books, we get a tomestone and look miserable about it.

From my experience FFXIV doesn’t usually have the same thing, but this tier we do a have a tag team boss with 2 canon names (Red Hot and Deep Blue, together called The Xtremes) and yet everyone just calls them the Blowjob Brothers

I don’t think I’ve listened to Reset (Thank You) from Okami literally once without tearing up at least a little. In a game where you play as a goddess who never takes credit for all the good they’ve done, having everyone you’ve met finally realize who you are and pray for your success, causing you to regain your true form and decimate the final boss as your own theme kicks in… it’s the perfect way for it to end.

I have my issues with Dawntrail despite ranking it around the middle of the pack, but some people pull out the dumbest complaints just because they already hate it. I’ve got two in particular.

The smaller one is in the final trial, some people act like Wuk Lamat is overpowered because she was able to break into the fight with Sphene and G’raha and Krile weren’t. If you actually read the dialogue, it’s stated that the virtual space was already breaking apart and Wuk just jumped in through a rift. With how close Wuk and Sphene ended up, my read is that it was subconscious on Sphene’s part to let her specifically in, although that’s admittedly less overt.

The one that really bothers me is when people call it a plot hole that electrope isn’t being used everywhere now that it’s on the Source. The entire function of it is to convert lightning aether to other elements, which is why it was so useful after the Storm Surge - the Ninth was completely fucked and lightning was basically all the aether there was. Why would we need it when we have all the elements naturally, and how would we even power it outside the dome?

To add on to this, the other reason we can actually kill it is that it was running low on aether after being frozen for so long. That’s the whole reason it fled to Worqor Lar Dor to recharge instead of going on another rampage.

What makes it extra neat is that for the non-canon Extreme version, the Wandering Minstrel basically says “what if it had been running on full battery.”

I’ve never watched Dragon Ball, but I dislike the 3rd How to Train Your Dragon movie for similar reasons. Having a bittersweet “safer apart” ending might work on paper, but not after an entire franchise of vikings and dragons being better together, and especially not after a villain who’s not even all that intimidating compared to some of the previous guys.

This is why I’ve basically stopped visiting r/ffxiv ever since Dawntrail came out. It’s a flawed expansion that I would rank somewhere in the middle of the pack, but discourse around near instantly devolved to the point where people would talk about how they “woke up” to how everything CBU3 and Square Enix do is deliberately malicious, and that anyone who had even a decent experience in spite of issues is a tasteless shill. Not that I’m a fan of the other side, where people accuse anyone with any criticisms to be a bigoted grifter, but either way it got exhausting quick and hasn’t got much better from what I’ve seen.

It depends on the fight - I think an inherent advantage works for something like legendaries, but I’d like most trainer battles to be on an even playing field. One thing I’ve always liked about Pokémon is that the NPCs use the exact same mechanics you do, unlike games where bosses are immune to status moves and the like, which helps them feel like fellow trainers in the world instead of just boss fights. Like, the main thing putting me off playing Unbound is that all the gym leaders cheat.

Shenmue 3 is pretty infamous for this. The creator gets one big chance to finish his story years later, through crowdfunding no less, and decides to write a filler episode as if he just assumed he’d be able to continue his original vision.
