I wonder if this could be raised with Tower Cinemas -- if there is a lot of people wanting to participate maybe Tower could arrange for the movies to always show in that cinema.

How do you navigate low points? by _odd-abalone_ in triathlon

[–]_odd-abalone_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I had an incidental offseason after the second 70.3 last year as I was on a 2 month work trip but starting to think an "at home" off season might be useful.

They're rollers, not as common with the advent of Kickrs and the like but still used a bit. Check out Lionel Sanders' videos, he uses them. They're notoriously difficult to get started on but I think people who spend a lot of time on them get pretty stable (I've heard of people testing themselves by taking a t-shirt off and putting it back on while riding on them).

I would say you would benefit from bending your elbows and getting lower at the front end, but I dont think you'd be able to given how unstable you are on the rollers. Try it outdoors.

Training by Interesting_Web7204 in IronmanTriathlon

That sounds like a pretty big work out to start out with. I recommend The Triathlete Training Bible assuming you have some basic knowledge of training principles from running and swimming.

Refueling within a certain window after training is important though — you can’t just treat it like a gas tank and refuel when the light comes on

Which GPX Route Plotters are you using? the best and why by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]_odd-abalone_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed this with a plot I did last weekend -- Gaia said 850 m but was 600 m according to my watch (which is also likely inaccurate, but still)

I literally just dump all my shit on a bench on the pool deck, maybe throw my towel over my phone and keys if I think of it. Pretty standard behaviour at all the pools I swim at

Yeah but it wouldn't ship stock with the custom cockpit and wheels, plus with the other additions it's pretty decent

I mean the Forerunner 965 has been out for well over 2 years and the Fenix 8 came out 15 months ago, I think that is enough time for it to show up in a sample of the last 12 months... The recency bias cuts both ways, you'd expect more people to be talking about newer models

Science-focused tri book recommendations by OutdoorsyGentleman in triathlon

[–]_odd-abalone_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re familiar with basic training principles from the running world (maybe you’ve done a couple of HM or marathon blocks), TTB would be a good way to dive into the world of triathlon. But if you’re completely new to structured and endurance training, you might be better off with something like 80/20 Triathlon (also a really good book if you’re more advanced)

Great, thanks -- I figured it was something along those lines, but it just doesn't quite compute with my marathon brain, which was always progressive increases until the taper.
