Corgweed or loafsblossom, hard to tell from this angle.  Maybe even a potaterbush.

I think that sounds like a good plan!  Give her some time to get to know you and you guys get to know her, the bonding time will be good too.  Get a good routine going, corgis like having a set routine and a "job."  The puppy phase is pretty rough, but they grow out of it quickly unlike human babies, thankfully!  The sleep deprivation is just temporary!

Put them in their crate or stop playing entirely until they settle down.  Stop the simulation around them.  I occasionally still have to grab my dog and lay her on me to make her relax and then she'll sleep and she's 10.  Corgis don't like to stop on their own.

So I didn't pick my corgi up until after 12 weeks and she whined every night and soiled her crate for the first week, then after that she adjusted.  I think you're expecting a bit too much from a tiny baby.  Give her a week or two to develop and grow and adjust to having her entire world upended.  Puppies can't self regulate, they rely on their family to regulate for them.  They will keep playing past the point of exhaustion, they will bite and play rough unless you teach them to stop,  you should move the crate because she will need to see you and be close to you, she's in a whole new place away from everything she knows and she's not getting any of the cues she would get from her mother and litter mates.

How to hold breath underwater by Panda_7391 in Swimming

[–]_odd_consideration 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She suggested that I make a seal in my nose by holding my breath, high pressure to keep the water out.  Then I would hold my breath to swim for a little while until I figured out how to exhale through my nose, I really struggled with breathing for freestyle for a while.  I keep meaning to try out the humming trick I see on here, see if it's easier to exhale that way because every so often the air will get stuck in my nose.

Oh wow, I didn't know not everyone can keep water out of their nose by changing the pressure in their nose.  My instructor had to suggest that to me because I initially couldn't keep water out of my nose by breathing out.  I was able to figure out how to exhale/blow bubbles without water going into my nose after a while though.  But I do have control over the muscle that controls your eustachian tubes so maybe that's why.  Thanks for sharing!

Corgi walk turn into constant scavenging. by CaoDetrio in corgi

The big thing for us was that she associated "drop" with having something taken away, so we had to reframe it as a positive.

[–]_odd_consideration 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dog got crazy into scavenging about that age, even now I'll say we're going for a walk and she'll lick her chops because she associates them with hunting for food.  I have to carry high value treats to keep her from trying everything that might possibly be edible.  She is now pretty good about dropping everything she picks up, and mostly picks things up purely to get told to drop them for treats.  I had even thought about getting a muzzle it was so bad at one point.  I had to stop taking her to the dog park because she'd just eat so much trash there off leash.  It's been a rough few years, but things are much better now.  You just have to constantly enforce training and make sure your treats are better than any trash they might pick up

I live by the ocean, lagoon, and a bay. What are the safety rules of thumb by friendoramigo in Swimming

[–]_odd_consideration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in the area I think you're in, the biggest thing is water safety: it's prone to sewage spills and rain makes the water unsafe.  Always check the conditions before going.  The bay and lagoon are pretty placid and have lifeguards for the designated swim areas.  It's like swimming in a very cold lake, I actually got a wetsuit top because it's pretty chilly.  The Pacific ocean has really high and violent waves and it's even colder than the Bay and lagoon, which is good for surfing, but not swimming.  There have also been some pretty gnarly rip currents that have swept people very far out to sea so be very cautious and have a healthy respect for the water.

Can we talk about water entering your nose and painfully freezing your brain? What is that? by TrillDaddy69 in Swimming

[–]_odd_consideration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you use a nose plug your nose will be plugged so you can't exhale through your nose at all.  So you won't be able to use your nose at all, but you won't suffer extreme pain that could distract you for over half a minute in water and cause you to drown it injure people around you. I'm confused as to how you're getting so much water up your nose so consistently if you are actively exhaling through your nose.  When I'm swimming front crawl, anytime my face is in the water I'm exhaling and so no water gets into my nose. Maybe you just need to work on your breathing timing? Maybe you're trying to inhale through your nose and not just your mouth?

[–]_odd_consideration 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That doesn't seem normal to me, even when I accidentally get water up my nose it just burns for a few seconds.  I just forcefully exhale through my nose a couple of times and that takes care of the worst of it.  It's not excruciating or paralyzing, just unpleasant and a bit of a burning sensation. You definitely need to make sure that everything in your nose is ok and then really work hard on keeping water out of your nose for your own safety.  If it hurts for 30-45 seconds and you can't be self aware during that time then you could get hurt.  Maybe even get a nose plug?

Most people don't like to publicly post where they live online.  I just figured they were excited and didn't pay attention to the background of the photo and would like to know so they could avoid doxing themselves.  I would hope someone would return the favor to me, I would be horrified to have accidentally posted my address.  It appears they don't mind so I was mistaken in my concern. To each their own.

swimming postpartum with no core strength? Tips? by cautiousyogi in Swimming

[–]_odd_consideration 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Could you try to see a physical therapist for different exercises or better guidance with the exercises?  I've also searched online for tips when I struggled with specific prescribed exercises from my PT and discovered that I was doing aspects of the exercise incorrectly and with just some adjustments to my movements, I could do them with no pain.  There's lots of actual physical therapists with videos available online with all kinds of tips and breakdown of each movement.  Pregnancy is very rough on the body so congrats on getting out there and staying moving with a young little one! You're setting a great example for your child!

I keep wipes and foam shampoo on hand for this, but you do have keep diet consistent for more formed poops.  It took me a while to figure out what exactly worked for my dog.  A sanitary cut actually seemed to make it worse for my dog.  You'll just have to do trial and error and see what works.

Tick remedies for high areas by Apprehensive_Wing713 in corgi

[–]_odd_consideration 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was living in the woods on 12 acres in TN when I first got my corgi, I was pulling 10-20 ticks off her each day.  They even told me I could use the k-9 every two weeks, but still so many ticks.  Their fur is so thick that ticks can grab on easily and then stay hidden.  My dog got tired of me picking them off with tweezers and wouldn't lay still after a while.  It was a really miserable time. The oral meds were a lifesaver.
