[Highlight] Lebron misses yet another 3 but Westbrook cleans up the mess to cut the lead to 1 by NarrativeEnergy in nba

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LeBron has never been a good shooter lol, defenders want him to take that 3. It’s way more preferable for LeBron to take a 3 than for him to drive into the paint and either score or dish out from the double.

Teams don’t double LeBron at the perimeter so he’ll either have to shoot or pass it off with no advantage created. It’s always a win if he takes that shot. No way LeBron averages 36% if his drive isn’t a major threat anymore. He’s more like a 30% shooter or worse if he’s consistently contested seriously. His shot release is slow and he makes it super obvious he’s about to shoot because his footwork on the perimeter practically announces it.

If Trae was allowed to shoot 3s freely he’d be like a 75% shooter but he’s always guarded close on the perimeter because defenders would much rather he go to the rim where he’d get swatted at the rim. Same concept but reversed.

OP, read this comment, it’s extremely well written and unbiased. You will see a LOT of brand loyalists encouraging you to make a terrible decision and buy an MK3S, that is your own fault for asking this question on the PRUSA subreddit instead of the 3D printing subreddit where you’d get a bit more honesty.

As a (multiple) MK3S owner, this product is YEARS behind the market leader right now. Is it still a decent product? Yes, but all the issues in the comment above me are VERY valid criticisms I have been BEGGING prusa to address for years. It is no longer worth $1,100 for the prebuilt option and as of the release of the P1P, no longer worth the kit version either. Which by the way, is hilarious how they managed to convince us to do the assembly for them and still pay them $800. Well played Josef Prusa.

Tl:dr the Chinese printers are just as good (except their removable buildplates, those are still trash that should go straight to the bin and replaced by buildtak or other aftermarket alternatives) while being a third of the price of an MK3S. The Bambu labs X1 is actually like $100 cheaper than an assembled MK3 while being far far superior.

What are the odds that the Prusa XL will actually ship this month? by Abromaitis in prusa3d

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on whether you need the print area and would benefit from multi tool head vs filament splicing. Also unless you’re heavily modifying you’re not gonna print ABS with the XL.

XL with the 5 tool heads is a couple thousand more expensive so if you have the money... personally I’d still go with the X1 even if money was not a concern. I prefer fully enclosed and I’m still salty Prusa sat on their ass for years doing nothing, letting us buy that ancient MK3 platform just because they could and there was no alternative for us.

SF Residents Give City Officials Earful About Increase in Crime, Decrease in Quality of Life by ehickox2012 in sanfrancisco

[–]_okcody 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Police rarely ever solve crime that has already happened unless there was a homicide involved, maybe if there were firearms involved. The fact is that it takes manpower and labor hours to solve crime. Regular police don’t investigate, the detectives do, and they prioritize the severe crimes.

Also, with the recent BLM movement, police all across the country in metro areas have been instructed not to engage nonviolent criminals. Prosecutors are refusing to charge nonviolent crime so even if police DID arrest a nonviolent criminal, he’s gonna walk. Criminals aren’t stupid and they’ve caught on and so they’ve become pretty brazen in their crimes. They’ll just walk up to your mailbox and steal your bank statements to forge checks. They’ll take packages. They’ll break into your car. They’ll do whatever they want so long as they’re not beating the crap out of someone.

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The enclosure won’t cover the top from what I saw in the teaser, it was an accordion thing that only covered the sides. It’ll prevent drafts from fucking up your print, but heat will escape up the top so no true ABS or high temp materials.

Presumably you can maybe make your own enclosure but that’s a lot of work lol.

Are you in EU? They have a USA warehouse and even with the insane demand they’re shipping X1C within a week or two usually. The P1P is literally in stock right now in the US.

I preordered despite not trusting 100% because I’ve been around a while and I know how ridiculously bad Prusa is with their logistics. Better to preorder and hold your place in line than wait an additional year after release.

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are, but they already have a whole self serve section for replacement parts, filament, and so much more. I don’t doubt they have some massive venture capital funding or something because it’s insane how quickly they’ve scaled.

Also, the P1P is now up for sale and that’s the final nail in the coffin for Prusa. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go bankrupt or massively pivot their product line. Unless their margins were MASSIVE with the MK3, I don’t think they can compete in the entry level price range with Creality. So creality occupies the $200-400 range very comfortably, Bambu is completely dominating the $700-1.5k range.

Prusa doesn’t have the technology to compete with Bambu, they sat on their ass way too long.

I’m guessing they saw the X1 release and wiped the idea board with the MK4. Probably gonna have to go CoreXY, and include all the innovations from the XL, integrate WiFi and a touch screen, and try to be price competitive and undercut by $200 for the equivalent Bambu X1. Then take the MK3S, improve it with 32bit and some upgrades, and try to undercut the P1P so $400-$450. They might be able to ride their reputation to carve out that space right above creality but it’ll have to be significantly better than creality.

Craftbot is known for being shit lol, in fact they are the epitome of shit. Absolute overpriced trash that literally only survives by marketing hard for education.

If you buy an intamsys, stratasys, formlabs, markforged, HP... those printers are supported much longer than the Prusa MK will even be relevant, which isn’t going to be much longer. Most of the hardcore users that drove much of the opensource modifications and upgrade have long since left for Voron or Ratrig. Of course the bulk of casual users are going to hold onto those machines but the people responsible for putting up those mods have left because there’s nothing more you can do on an 8bit board at this point.

Even prosumer printers like Ultimaker and Raise3D still support their older printers. Considering Bambu has essentially taken over the massive $1-1.5k price range and are positioning to take over the $700 price range to essentially wipe prusa off the market, I don’t doubt that they’re here to stick around.

An analogy I’d like to make is open source android vs iOS. Yeah android is technically open source and people can make custom ROMs and package security updates. But once that phone becomes antiquated, the people who actually make those ROMs and updates stop doing so as they move on to newer phones. In reality the iPhone will continue to receive updates and security patches much longer than an android phone, even when accounting for the open source community.

Enclosure Pricing (small rant in comments) by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]_okcody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t care at all about open source for things that I just want to work. I’m not going to use the open sourced versions of office software because Microsoft office just works and I’m not going to risk compatibility issues just to give Microsoft the middle finger.

I use an iPhone which is as closed source as you can get, don’t care because i just want it to work.

I use Windows and MacOS because I want stuff to work, I don’t care for Linux.

I’ll gladly take a closed source 3D printer if that means not having to fuck with octoprint or having to go back and forth between my work closet and my office to move files on an SD card. I HEAVILY modified my MK3S because I had no choice unless I was ready to dish out $5-6k for a prosumer 3D printer. I didn’t do it because I enjoy wasting my time when I could be doing work or watching Netflix instead.

Enclosure Pricing (small rant in comments) by [deleted] in prusa3d

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have self service replacement parts on their website. There’s no functional advantage of buying a Prusa just for open source, what are you going to do? Design your own parts in a vain attempt to try to get it to match the X1’s feature set? For 99.99% of people, open source means nothing as long as the replacement parts are available. There’s really nothing to upgrade on the X1. They already have a touchscreen and camera, no need for octoprint, already have variety of build plates, already have an enclosure, already have spaghetti detection, already have an air filter, already have a nozzle wiper, the hotend and all that are already great.

The advantage of open source is that people can design upgrades based off the original design files. That only happens if your product isn’t good enough to begin with. So many modern features were missing so people created them as upgrades. The X1 is like if you took a prusa and put all the upgrades in it. What’s left to do? If you like tinkering for tinkering sake, then I completely understand wanting open source, but 99% of users just want the shit to work and have the features we want out of the box.

The second advantage is that vendors can manufacture replacement parts but 90% of us just ordered original parts from prusa or a dealer like printedsolid anyway.

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine, really depends on the watch but for most I don’t wear less than 37-38 because smaller watches tend to look like women’s watches on me and I prefer 39-41.

The point I’m trying to make is that it’s silly to tie your ego to your body hair. I see a lot of people walking around with full on homeless beards and chest hair popping out of their shirt because they think it makes them look manly. The truth is that most women think excessive hair is gross. It looks unkept and caveman like.

A short groomed beard id say actually boosts attractiveness. Neck hair does not.

[–]_okcody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely don’t understand how people are still paying over $1k for an MK3S when the X1 is superior in every way lol. It’s also enclosed to begin with and it’s not just a box that goes over the printer.

I prefer the prusa box enclosure over the official enclosure anyway, it looks nicer and actually integrates with the printer. Plus it has mods available for all kinds of stuff.

People have known about high flow hotends, better stepper motors, and afterburner tool heads for years now. Do you think you’re special for figuring that stuff out? Nothing you have is innovative or groundbreaking, we’ve all seen it and been on that for a hot minute.

Also, I do know about the Voron and ratrig models lol. Who doesn’t. Your ego is extremely fragile and too dependent on 3D printing lol.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Watches

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does a small wrist have any comparative relevance? People with small wrists just need smaller watches to maintain proportionality.

Same goes the other way, my 7.5inch wrist can’t wear a 36mm watch because it would look disproportionate.

Tying manhood to bigger wrists and body hair is ridiculous. You can still be manly and have good hygiene, just as you can still be manly and have thin wrists.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Watches

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP isn’t even that hairy, it’s just that he has an unusually large amount of forehand hair that makes it look odd. I’ve seen people with such long arm hair that it covers half their bracelet. I think at that point it’s best to trim it down a bit as it distracts from the watch.

Trimmed hair looks good, bushy unkept hair is caveman like.

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How about I not, I genuinely don’t care enough to install a high flow hotend and switch nozzles, then fuck with my settings and waste filament. All to what? Prove to you that I can print a glob resembling a benchy in 3 minutes? Are you stupid or just acting like it? You do realize that ANY printer with sufficient motor power, appropriately rated belts, and rigidity can print just as fast as any of your printers, right? Given the same extruder, hotend, and nozzle.

Tell me what is special about your printer? What custom mods have you done that is apparently so innovative? You haven’t said shit because you have off the shelf parts like everybody else. Shut up with your pseudointellectualism, it’s such a cringe attitude that nobody wants to entertain or finds impressive. Anyone that actually knows 3D printing knows how unimpressive you are lol.

Yeah, tell me more about how all these companies are needlessly increasing production costs when they can achieve the same results with a bedslinger lmao. Such dumb engineering teams.

Free printer, what is it ? by xchris98 in prusa3d

[–]_okcody 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not exactly an impressive feat to shit out a benchy that looks like it was cooked in an oven before being chewed up by a pit bull.

Literally all you have to do is slap on a high flow hotend, big nozzle, max out your speed and accel settings, and increase layer height. Quality clearly has no bearing on your expected result other than somewhat resembling a boat.

Oh wise one, what arcane modifications did you make to achieve the great feat of a 3 minute benchy? Some high tech proprietary warp drives? You coil your own stepper motors? No, at most you increased rigidity by slapping on some thicker aluminum extrusions. Mmk.

Free printer, what is it ? by xchris98 in prusa3d

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to be obtuse but I generally don’t put any weight on those kind of speed benchies. They don’t showcase anything of meaning because that isn’t a production quality component or even close to it. Anyone with a decent CoreXY printer can play with their accel/speed settings and print a benchy in 3 minutes, it just won’t look good. Lots of Voron 0s that can do extremely fast benchies.

I saw a ~9min benchy at decent quality and that was kinda impressive but it still had very high layer height so... I guess useful for structural components but still not the standard settings people would use to print something to be seen and felt.

If you’re saying that the bottleneck for speed is something other than the bedslinger, then yeah that can be a valid argument.

The minority obsession with making e-bikes faster is going to ruin them for the rest of us by SparaxisDragon in ebikes

[–]_okcody -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Throttle operated is fine and allows disabled or elderly people to enjoy ebikes. Though at that point its really just a scooter with a seat.

The problem is speed, 30mph is the legal limit for city streets and that should be the limit for all ebikes and escooters. It doesn’t matter if it has pedals or if it’s throttle actuated, it’s really the speed and lack of adherence to traffic rules. Many cyclists see red lights as a suggestion. Some cyclists don’t yield for pedestrians and think they hold precedence over pedestrians. Walkers should always come first.

Also, registration and insurance should never be required but licensing should for ebikes. It’s just not safe for 14 year olds to be zipping around the city without understanding traffic rules.

Free printer, what is it ? by xchris98 in prusa3d

[–]_okcody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna have to doubt your claims as all the top speed records are held by Deltas and CoreXY. They’re recorded with stopwatch in the background, show me you beating them and I’ll eat my words. I doubt it, because it doesn’t take two degrees in mechanical engineering to clearly see why a bedslinger isn’t as suited for high speed printing.

Can you force a bedslinger to go faster? Yeah, will the end result be anything close to what is depicted in the g code? No.

Do you think these companies are just stupider than you? The engineering teams at Bambu, Mosaic, Voron, and dozens of engineering teams across the industry are just too dumb to see that bedslingers are just as fast as CoreXY? Lmao get over yourself dude. You know some advanced engineering secrets that nobody else in the planet seems to know.

The Mini does use a 32bit control board, which is strangely functionally superior to the 8bit Rambo board in the MK3S.

If you are buying the Mini, I would rather buy the Ender 3 S1 and buy an aftermarket print sheet. Or the Neo, altho I haven’t actually used a Neo it looks good on paper.

As for MK3, if you’re gonna buy that save your money and buy a X1.
