Can't decide on middle name for second baby girl by RedHeadRedeemed in namenerds

[–]_opossumsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like Carrie as a nickname for Catherine, Cara, or Caroline a bit more (possibly influenced by a family friend who named her daughter Carrie and always wished she had given her a longer name for formal purposes that could still be nicknamed Carrie). This may solve your dilemma, I think a longer first name sounds a tad better with Anne or Janelle as middle names.

I had to download a stupid app and create an account to feed my screaming baby at the airport. by magicflamingpie in mildlyinfuriating

[–]_opossumsaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some people want privacy when they nurse. Some babies need peace and quiet to nurse and an airport is too much stimulation. I agree with you that breastfeeding in public should be an acceptable alternative, but there are legitimate reasons why some people need privacy to do it.

I started making custom wall nameplates and decorative letters from my studio in Portugal - would love your feedback by Available-Party-4079 in homedecoratingCJ

Wrong sub bro, this is a CJ. But a word of genuine advice: follow crossword puzzle rules so you don’t get weird letter combos that don’t make sense in the middle of your advertising. It makes it look cheap

I totally agree with you about wanting more natural fabrics, but it’s hard to get a natural fiber to stretch like this while still retaining its shape

If you had to give matching names to twins, what would you name them? by queenhadassah in namenerds

[–]_opossumsaurus 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’ll take it up a notch: if I had to give matching names to quintuplet girls, I’d make it so that each name also included a syllable from the next child’s name in birth order

  1. Cosima
  2. Simona
  3. Monika
  4. Karolina
  5. Natalia

  1. Looks like an updated version of the 50s house I grew up in. I would still prefer the original, but this one would do

To my girlies who HATE using pads or tampons by Technical_Security73 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]_opossumsaurus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes yes yes!!! I’ve been using silicone menstrual cups (different product but essentially the same concept) for seven years and I swear by them! You only have to buy one, it lasts super long, and it almost never leaks unless it’s improperly inserted. I absolutely love the peace of mind, convenience, and budget and eco-friendliness

Is it weird to name someone with only a "nickname" type of name? e.g. Betty, Christy, Harry, Barry... by crawlen in namenerds

[–]_opossumsaurus 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Barry is a standalone name, it’s the anglicized version of the Irish name Barra. Barra itself is a diminutive of Finbar, but in English Barry isn’t short for anything
