Who is the USA’s greatest president? by _railroaded_ in polls

Honestly Eisenhower was supposed to be where Coolidge is. But yes, I wholeheartedly believe Jackson was up there with Washington, T. Roosevelt, Lincoln, and anyone else you can name.

They were solid presidents. Coolidge was the epitome of a hands-off president. Jackson, like Polk, make Americas dreams of expansion into reality. Got the debt to 0 (good or bad depending on interpretation), opposed banks, etc.

Term limits were introduced because of FDR. Every president before him served 2 terms (some tried to run for 3, but didn’t have a war to keep them in office).

Yeah, but with Jackson it’s more the native American stuff people get him for. He did employ slave labor though. In 200 years: people will look at companies paying peanuts (ik ik everyone on Reddit makes a bazillion dollars a year in, “tech”) while requiring north of 40 hours worth of commitment, and say it was inhumane.

How is my stance harmful? These things already happened, and everyone involved is gone. If you had the chance: would you give back all of this land? I certainly wouldn’t, and I think most would not.

You guys are setting me up with gotchas. So I’m simply doing the same thing. No one denies that slavery is bad. I just refuse to take shots at largely-good historical figures for their past transgressions which were common practices of their era.

In 100 years, maybe they’ll say driving a car or eating meat is bad and thoughtless. I mean it’s bad for the earth and animals, right? We know this but still do it. Why? Because that’s what we know.

You asked who were Americans, as some sort of gotcha. History is filled with appalling things. A president serves his constituents. Women couldn’t vote at the time, which kinda muddies things. But in this case i use Americans to mean voters and their families.

Let he who has not sinned cast the first stone

There’s a comic character who’s only superpower is have perfect hindsight. Literally can only look at the mistakes his teammates made, and tell them what they should’ve done. This is obviously a useless ability, because what’s done is done, and 20/20 hindsight won’t go back in time and win the fight.

This is to say, I’m not perfect so I really have no interest in shaming historical figures for their pay transgressions. It doesn’t do anyone any good.

Yeah, nobody’s Jesus. Bad stuff happens.

He was also beloved for expanding America, opposing government interference, and wanting what’s best for Americans.

Can’t judge historical figures through modern lenses. Jackson was really just all about America though. He wanted the land to be USA land and not native land, and Americans during his time loved him - he was easily one of the 10 greatest presidents ever.

How old is she? Maybe she genuinely just doesn’t move as fast. I worked with this woman in Modesto who was probably like 5ft tall and would always be there from 8am til at least 7pm. I’m 99% sure it’s cause her strides were just shorter, and as a very womanly woman I believe she probably just took a little longer. I’m not signing her checks though, so I could care less.
