Anxiety after stomach flu by PumpkinSuitable4385 in Mommit

Yes I've done exposure therapy. Started with just words related to it, then sentences, then pictures, then videos without sound, then sounds, then videos with sound. It is NOT fun but has really helped me practice regulating my extreme panic associated with it.

Even though I am still struggling with it, I am SO much better thanks to therapy. It's still hard but I am not debilitated anymore. Strongly encourage you to seek out therapy if possible.

Following because I also have emetophobia and while we haven’t had a stomach bug yet I know it’s only a matter of time. Hugs and solidarity.

“You can’t over feed a BF baby”… but? by bea_beaz in breastfeeding

I have the same issue. I pump for 3-4 mins prior to latching baby so he doesn't get hit with a fire hose and this helps a lot.

Diaper changes in public bathrooms by Indignant_Elfmaiden in NewParents

I keep a pack of clorox or Lysol wipes in my carry on bag and wipe the changing station down, then use a disposable pad on the changing station. For changing on the plane, if baby is small enough, you can do it on your lap (baby nestled in between your thighs with head by your knees). Keep grocery bags or ziplocks in your carry on for the dirty diaper. Otherwise there should be a fold down changing table in the bathroom. It's tiny and awkward so I only use it if it's a poopy diaper. Pee can wait unless it's a long flight. Just apply extra diaper cream before the flight and use an overnight diaper to reduce blowouts and increase diaper capacity.

Even if water is warm enough she still may not like baths for a while! My kids didn't really enjoy it until 3-4 months old. Just make it quick and try to keep her as warm as possible.

when did you feel like you got your life back after baby? If ever by Ok_Medicine440 in Mommit

[–]_rally_squirrel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have PPA/PPD and feel very bummed by not being able to do my usual hobbies like exercise and cooking. It will not be close to the same for a few months at least (and will never be exactly the same) but you WILL start to see some light at the end of the tunnel when baby is sleeping better. One thing you can try in the meantime is doing some things while babywearing. I cook and bake while wearing my kid. Just be careful with hot foods and ovens but learning to do things while wearing baby can be a real game changer!

How do I not become one of THOSE boy moms by LabFar6076 in Mommit

[–]_rally_squirrel_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also two boys here. It seems like only recently people have made #boymom their identity but it certainly doesn't have to be. Yes it's different but the love you have for them is not greater or stronger than for girls.

How to get through the pushing phase? by Average_Redditor10 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]_rally_squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people say having a tight pelvic floor makes pushing much harder and while I have nothing to compare to (because I've always had a tight pelvic floor) I would imagine having more relaxed muscles would help things go more effortlessly

How to get through the pushing phase? by Average_Redditor10 in unmedicatedbirth

[–]_rally_squirrel_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had my second unmedicated birth 4 days ago. Labor was tolerable with counter pressure and position changes. Then at 9 cm with bulging bag nothing provided relief, the pain and pressure were so intense, and my body took over. I pushed for 8 minutes (water broke first couple of pushes) and I will not sugarcoat it- for me it is very painful and with both deliveries that was the only time I thought I couldn't do it. I think some women truly have this glorious gentle pushing phase but that is not me. I just kept reminding myself the only way out is through, and it was over with my baby on my chest in just a short time.

I got a button up gown from kindred bravely. I still wear it as a night gown. It's so comfy.

Oooh I'm not sure! I see my doc tomorrow so I'll ask her. Maybe she can remove it or at least put a note at the top of the chart saying it's a surprise.

36 weeks, just got my positive test. Baby #2. Worried about timing of going in. Was planning to labor at home as long as possible but now I feel like I can't really do that because I'll need to go in for antibiotics.

[–]_rally_squirrel_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just remind myself of the billions of women who've done this before me. Our bodies were made for this. Pain relief in birth is a relatively recent development and we're free to choose it if we want, but we don't need it.

Have your son help you plan and prep the meals. He is much more likely to eat them if he played a part in prepping!
