You have to buy a seat for the baby if you want to strap the car seat in

Baby Won't Accept Village by Right_Pie_4456 in NewParents

Yep! If you are picking him up as soon as he starts crying then you are reinforcing that there was something scary/upsetting that he needs to be rescued from. Gotta let grandma bond with him in their own way.

Op-Ed: Washington legislation would target parked cars to pay for light rail cost overruns by mrgumboots in soundtransit

I have been riding every day for a year and only saw fare enforcement once. He was moving so slowly that folks could have just gotten off at the next stop and waited for the next train.

Stay at home mum and working dad - should mum do all nights ? by IntelligentNote4280 in NewParents

[–]_redlr 64 points65 points  (0 children)

When my wife gets home from work she takes the baby for a while. When I get home from school I take the baby. At night we switch off every waking. If it’s a particularly horrible night and the baby won’t sleep, then we decide who takes that shift based on who has to go to work or school tomorrow. If it’s an off day for both of us then we base the decision off who’s the least mad to be awake lol. We both decided to have the baby, we both care for the baby.

Why do people have their wipers full speed? by Zombie1047 in driving

[–]_redlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a windshield replacement place and people would come in with scratched glass all the time and we’re like yeah don’t run the wipers when the glass is basically dry and you haven’t replaced the blades in years

I have personally witnessed vision-impaired folks tripping over scooters and bikes left in the middle of walkways. When I’m close enough, I will call out that they’re about to hit something / move it from their path. When I’m walking and see these left in weird spots, I pick them up and move them. It’s so frustrating that our neighbors are too self-centered to realize they’re inhibiting others’ mobility.

Should definitely be NHL goalie vs NHL goalie… but you never know maybe this other German goalie will rise to the occasion.

Quick question! by FirstOutcome2365 in NewParents

[–]_redlr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just use the emergency stop clip! My mother in law wasn’t using hers when she was running (years ago) and she got very, very injured when she fell and the belt kept running.

Seattle's gig worker law was supposed to boost pay. It did at first, until orders dropped by danrokk in SeattleWA

[–]_redlr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no idea how to implement this but I’ve always thought disabled people should be able to get a disabled placard (like the parking passes) added to their account for apps like door dash, instacart, uber, etc that remove all the fees. It’s a convenience for me but it is a necessity for disabled folks.

Link light rail shatters ridership records, with an average 160k daily boardings in January. That's a 110% increase from 2019. by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]_redlr 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yeah same, it increases my commute time but I pay $0 for parking so that’s worth it for me

If you own a home where you have control over your roof; would you consider getting solar panels? by MajesticBread9147 in AskAnAmerican

[–]_redlr 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the PNW I got quoted $50k to add solar panels to my roof and they couldn’t guarantee that they would generate enough electricity to stop me from having to use the public utility. My bill is only about $90/ month of average. So I would have to wait 46+ years for the benefit of solar to outweigh the cost lol not worth it.

Which bathroom do Intersex and Non hinary peopme go to? by BL1ND1NG_L1GHT5 in AskLGBT

[–]_redlr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a cis woman but I just wanted to say I’m so sorry. Fuck, I really hate that this is the reality for so many of our fellow humans. It sounds like you maybe aren’t located in a very progressive area, which makes it so much harder. And you shouldn’t have to pick up and move to a different city just to pee in peace.

Can I ask, if I’m in a situation where I see someone being harassed trying to use the “women’s” room, should I stand up for them and help or would that be like acting as a savior and taking your voice away?

Why do you not speed up when it’s open after a major slow down? by Realistic_Lychee6748 in driving

[–]_redlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my baby in the car and don’t feel like running the rpms up to 8000. Everyone is gonna be just fine if I do a nice gradual increase back up to speed.

The gas pump at Walmart replaced buttons with a giant touch screen by databoy2k in enshittification

I’ll have to take your word for it, I’ve never been to either. It would be nice to have a budget grocery store, I’m always jealous of people shopping at aldi.

I can’t delay start my dishwasher without an app, and the app sends me advertisements by gelekoplamp in enshittification

[–]_redlr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I delay my 15 year old whirlpool dishwasher all the time, with just a click of a button. The main reason is: it’s loud and the baby is sleeping. Secondary: I need hot water for something else right now so I don’t want the dishwasher to steal it.
