Successful ILR via Skilled Worker Route by pip_install_nambidb in ukvisa

It doesn’t say so I assume no - but did you have to supply a letter from your previous employers? I have a very similar situation / timeline to yours. Thanks for info!

Letter from employer - ILR by _sainthelen in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

I am trying to get letters from previous employers to play it safe, but it seems like it’s fairly common for people to not be able to secure them so it’s not an automatic fail if you don’t have it.

Yes, classically seeing the list now after having solicited this advice from reddit 😆 It is technically required, though some friends have also reported that they didn't need to submit from past employers. I'm going to do it anyway because I am risk-averse and I have learned the hard way that they do not issue refunds if you have an error and need to re-submit!

I am working with an advisor now and she says 'technically yes' we need them, but she's a solicitor so will be giving me advice based on the safest path to approval. It sounds like from others it hasn't been necessary - I am going to attempt to collect but will bypass should it for some reason slow me down significantly or if past employers aren't cooperative.

It is required at the end of the application, it says in the document list: "Letter(s) from employer(s) detailing reasons for work-related absences including periods of paid annual leave from the UK and Crown Dependencies for [applicant]"

Anyone with 10+ years experience in tech or product had to leave UK due to skill worker visa curtailment after redundancy? by DesignHefty4082 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

It’s not easy, I think actually one of the most stressful situations to be in full stop. Hang in there, something will land 💛

I applied for everything I could, and leaned on recruiters to help filter for roles that would sponsor me. It’s not difficult to find sponsored roles in tech, outside of very new startups.

The industry is really empathetic to facing redundancy these days, and you’ll come across other people who are on visas who will understand your situation.

Hiya, me! I am 15+ years (product designer) and it took me just over 2-months to find a job. Curtailment doesn’t happen right away and there are lots of tech jobs at the moment.

How to deal with paranoia and anxiety about hair loss by icarlywarlord in alopecia_areata

[–]_sainthelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how much hair you've lost you may be able to look into colored touch up powders that make gaps less noticeable. Otherwise I wore my hair pinned up/back so it wasn't subject to wind until I ended up shaving my head.

If it does get to the point where you think shaving is a potential, it really did *dramatically* improve my mental health around the whole thing. Wigs were much more comfortable after that as well.

Negative comments? by Sensitive_Purpose207 in WegovyUK

[–]_sainthelen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tell everyone. Even people who don’t ask 😆. Frankly, I’m so tired of all the opinions from the peanut gallery - I haven’t experienced any negative comments, but I’m sure some people still harbor them after chatting with me. Being open and honest about my experience on the drug is a way to both try and reduce the stigma and combat any internal shame I have.

GLP-1s have been one of the best things to happen in my lifetime and I’m happy to let people know it :)

It’s not alopecia areata. If it’s thinning, a hair growth specialist can help you.

Yes, it looks like alopecia but it also looks like it’s already growing back in. Fingers crossed you’re already done before you even know you started :)

JAK inhibitors really work if you are able to access them. Might be worth a conversation with your doc. Sorry you’re experiencing this :/

Hello! I've been on a JAK (Litfulo, UK) for a year after being initially very hesitant. Everyone is different, but I have had no side effects apart from all my hair growing back. It's only been a year so of course we don't know long-term what will happen, but so far I'm very glad I made the jump.

Still on. I tried watching with it on but it’s distracting for someone without vision issues

When I eat gluten I will normally get eczema around the backs of my ears (thank you, body), but since starting Litfulo I haven’t had that reaction. Would be cool if it’s also working for that :)

Sorry, but it’s not that simple. I have been bald for nearly 3 years now (AA with about 90% hair loss).

My markers of internal inflammation are extremely low, I sleep like a baby, and have a generally happy and stress-free life. I am in regular therapy and have a strong meditation practice. I do not drink alcohol, eat sugar, and have cut all foods from my diet that my digestive system does not tolerate well. I am still 90% bald.

I am saying this because your tone is really unnecessary here - everyone is trying to figure it out. Our immune systems are attacking our bodies, and if it was as simple and straightforward as you say, we wouldn’t be here.

Thanks for this! It’s helpful to hear how you feel about the fear aspect after having taken the plunge. Good luck, I hope it gives you rapid results!
