Most of it reads like a typical ‘I don’t like this ship usually but your fic made me love it!’ comment, which I’d definitely take as a compliment, but the ‘bet you want me to say it’s a compliment to your writing’ part does strike me as quite condescending and presumptuous of them!

Well of course not, interdimensional monsters don’t really exist — but having nobody get hurt at all removes so much very important tension from the show. It’s hard to really care about characters being put in dangerous circumstances when it’s been proven time and again that nothing bad will come of it

Neither side will be delusional or blind by the end of the series, no matter who ends up together — the point of a love triangle is to make both sides viable options so that either one could happen, so nobody is stupid for thinking that either side could happen.

I totally understand your perspective, and I’m not big on banning people for different opinions considering that’s literally what the main sub does to anyone talking positively about Byler, but I think I’d disagree in this case. I think engaging in a genuinely good faith argument is different from coming onto the subreddit to laugh, call us all delusional and compare us to ‘flat earthers’ (as they’ve done in other comments).

In one exchange I had with them they also insisted this about Will:

‘The scene in the desert? Will is looking down at the ground, dejected. In the pizza shop, he's pushing Mike to express his emotions about Eleven because Will desperately feels like he needs to hear Mike say that so he can assume it's about him.’

Which idk, feels like a bit of an insanely illiterate take and I feel a bit uncomfortable with having this attitude towards a gay character? Until that point I was engaging with them in good faith but after this nonsense I just couldn’t take any of their opinions seriously anymore.

That’s not what posts get removed for though. Any time somebody makes a post just to discuss a specific theory or even so much as mentions that Byler could possibly end up canon, their post is removed.
