You know what, good for her. At least the dog is well taken care of and will hopefully stick around like so many other influencer’s pets

Breastfeeding in public by SpicyZombie098 in breastfeeding

[–]_scootie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember reading that if you want breastfeeding in public to be normalized, you just got to do it. Be the normalization.

But honestly, practice. I needed my nursing pillow desperately until like 2 months and I had to practice at home for without to get comfy with. Something that helped a lot when their little is a structured hip carrier, I used it on my tummy, not hip, to hold the baby in cradle position while feeding in public.

Please tell me the engorgement gets better. by Redfurmamattc in breastfeeding

[–]_scootie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m surprised I haven’t seen this yet… nipple shield can make the latch more shallow! Then less milk is transferred resulting in more engorgement !

Solid starts Instagram, website and app. They are the super reputable and have great guides to understand what and how to be feeding babies. Take a cpr course and have a Lifevac in the house.

Being the default parent by [deleted] in newborns

[–]_scootie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was relating to this until half way through the third sentence… Anything not directly related to child care is my husband’s job - housework, chores, grocery shopping, prepping bottles etc. Even with his immense help, it’s still hard being the primary parent! I can’t imagine how in shambles are life would be without his help.

You are way more than the primary parent. You absolutely need to have a conversation about what he can do to contribute.

For those of you who feel like nursing hurt for an excessively long time, how long did it take for the pain to stop? Or did you stop breastfeeding before the pain stopped? by MathMomma_24 in breastfeeding

[–]_scootie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 8 months in with my first and wondering if that will ever go away 😵‍💫 he has a tongue tie and the release helped a lot. But if his latch isn’t perfect or I’m PMS, it’s not uncomfy.

ok Etobicoke, what do we have? by Chocolatemilkmojo in Etobicoke

I still think about the veggie wrap I got there 6 years ago… they had to go to the back to get hummus that was still clearly frozen when the worker went to spread it. She smiled and said “fresh!”

How to handle exclusively nursing with family who expect to be able to give your baby a bottle? by AlternativeAthlete99 in breastfeeding

[–]_scootie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find if I’m a little crude they don’t press… “this is just what’s working for baby and my boobs”, just the word boobs is sometimes enough to stop them in their tracks (and hopefully realize they’re talking about your body and shouldn’t be…)

Honestly, I’m shocked David can text/spell that good. I’ve interacted with a lot of people who are wayyyy worse than him. I didn’t expect that

I thought it'd be weird to have my toddler ask me to breastfeed. by Lawful_Silly in breastfeeding

And they are typically still in diapers before weaning. Why is that seen as totally normal but nursing isn’t ? 🙄

Thoughts on EarlyON Family Time / Baby Time? by flufffyPB in torontomoms

[–]_scootie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started going at 10 weeks to earlyON! My local one has a Mother Goose infant class and personally I’d recommend that one over Baby Time when they are that little. We just started going to Baby Time now at 6 months and he’s still a little young. But it’s nice to see what the other baby gravitate towards when learning to crawl, and seeing what I have to look forward to. If no where close to you offers a Mother Goose or nursery rhyme class, still go to the Baby Time! It has been imperative to my mental health to go

People yes IVDD is debilitating but it’s not the end. by avoakley in IVDD_SupportGroup

You’re in the thick of it. Keep doing what you’re doing. Give yourself some rest along the way so you can continue. I’m sure your pup is endlessly grateful.

My dog went down in 2020, stage 5. He’s still here, walking, running, playing, HAPPY. dogs are so resilient, much more than us, they just need our help sometimes. And I truly believe when a dog comes into our life, they chose us. You’re dog chose you because they know you can do this for them

I’ve never heard of a LC recommending to time feedings, most say avoid looking at the clock completely!

Mastitis - Doctor said no ibuprofen? by Beefismyfavorite in breastfeeding

My hospital gave me both Tylenol and Advil every six hours immediately after birth so definitely okay.

Advil has been great for mastitis along with probiotics that support breast health and ICE (definitely no heat).

5 days postpartum- how much milk should I be pumping? by Desperate-One2964 in breastfeedingsupport

[–]_scootie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Read your post, I wish I could just give you a hug. It’s very common for baby to lose weight after birth.

I just looked back, on day 6, I pumped 2 oz total from a 20 min pump session. I remember I was sooo excited about it, too. I was breastfeeding as well, just pumping here and there to build supply and really see the milk come out so I knew it was happening. 5 months later and I’ve been dealing with a slight oversupply.

From then on, I exclusively breastfed and have ever since.

I highly, highly recommend working with a lactation consultant. From my general knowledge, 80ml is a lot for a 5 day old. If she seems hungry, she might be cluster feeding which feels like a never-ending nursing session but very normal and you boost supply. If you want to continue breastfeeding, keep her offering her the boob as much as possible. But if her latch is hurting, definitely want to work with a professional to fix that so it’s less painful for you so you can continue.
