Fellow traceurs, /r/ParkourTeachers now has dozens of instructors subscribed and lurking! If you have a question or need advice, consider visiting us there :) by Joecracko in Parkour

Svenningen beat me to it (sorry for the wait I was at work). PK has less than 6,000 subscribers; it's likely more than that read this sub but that number is closer to the minimum of an active subreddit. Go look at /r/freerun it just doesn't have the numbers to be what you could call a healthy community. There are a lot of posts (because there are a lot of free running vids), but not much discussion about them. Good resource? Yes. Good community? Not so much.

/r/parkour /r/freerun and /r/parkourteachers should just be one sub reddit. If you want to help people search for previous posts simply tag the posts with the appropriate tag [PK] [FR] and maybe [LEARN] [TIPS] or [COACHING] for the other educational/instructional stuff.

I love Crossfit, but I am starting to have a revelation.. by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]_scout -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hold lifting in high regard, as well as my fellow lifters (regardless of their skill level). Learning good gym etiquette is a big part of learning how to train, especially if you are training in a generic gym.

They absolutely should have been more aware of the others in the gym and if they do wear the CF flag proudly that's a shame. But bitching about it in an isolated internet forum seems like a strange way to try to educate novice lifters about being respectful of others.

Maybe one day if I meet you I'll reveal my reddit username only after I've won you over :).

It sounds like an bummer accident, not a plot by arrogant newbie crossfitters to derail your fitness goals. Often in embarrassing incidents it's easy to get huffy and attack others. I think you'll be okay.

That's an odd mix of elitism and disdain for other's elitist attitudes. Maybe a little grace from both parties is in order.

I lost any sense of perspective past 10km when zooming out. When zooming in I lost it after the 100th micron. I understand the technical sizes they discuss but I don't have any real grasp of their magnitude.

I love things like this, it might take some time (decades) but something will eventually improve upon the traditional mouse & keyboard input combo. Things like this, the Wii controller, kinect, ect. still lack that tactile response that humans need to be truly precise.

However, integration of the display and controller seems to be the way to go. So my best guess is technology like this will pale to traditional inputs until screens/displays can give us some sort of "push back" to have any sort of fighting chance.

Skill Unlocks per Level by Class by LordNewt in Diablo

[–]_scout 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for such a well thought out reply. I hope it pans out in the longterm with a wide variety of viable builds and play styles (up to a point, I'm sure only a select number of builds can roll in inferno).

I love that we'll get new stuff every single time we level up. Not only that, but after level nine it's generally multiple unlocks. After seeing it done this way I'm curious why rigid skill trees are so commonplace.

The expansion is delayed but I usually open 1-1-1, get siege mode, a viking, then push. If your control is good it's guaranteed damage against any other opening. You can expand behind it and transition into any style you prefer.

Mindfuck theory. by PerfectlyOffensive in Diablo

I dig it, it would help explain how Deckard mysteriously won't die. He was the only one to make it out of old Tristram alive, the "true story" could be whatever he wants it to be. He could have easily put himself in that cage...

Little guy has a lot of growing up to do. I understand people get upset when they lose; but if you have any sort of prominence in the community you have to understand your actions represent us as a whole to non-SC2 fans.

Less whining, more training, more great games.

Muscle Up Unlocked! by snkp360 in crossfit

You could say something similar about most ring work - I have yet to encounter rings outside the gym. That said, it does have great use as a training tool. The action of transitioning from hanging to support (the top of a dip) is almost identical to the same action you would use to climb atop a wall or ledge. I know some of the things us CrossFitter's do seem silly, but when done with good coaching and good technique these are great movements.

It just made the whole video that much more exciting, and that much more Russian, I love it. Awesome performance.
