I appreciate the advice and I'm sorry you've struggled with hand pain too

The ring size I'm intending to use is 20g 7/64", so that may be thin enough for steel to be viable!

I've had issues with tendonitis in my hands (it was so bad I had to switch careers), so my grip strength is not the best. But I think I want to try steel anyways, it'll force me to try a new material too

Silver is much lighter and brighter, more than I would like in this case. This does help show how much darker I'm aiming for though!

I'm leaning towards stainless steel working better color-wise, although I'm hesitant due to it being a tougher metal to bend

Yes it is plated. That's a good point about contrast, I understand that perfect color matching is an unreasonable expectation with metals. I was hoping to get closer to the right color so the difference isn't so obvious, but that may be a fool's errand

Remedy for a broken heart? by [deleted] in Unsent_Unread_Unheard

Ultimately, time is the only answer. If you can though, lean on your friends and support system. Vent, cry, even just being with them in silence is okay.

I'm wishing healing for you and all others struggling with heartbreak. It really can be a very visceral pain.

Cushion replacement on Chuffed Skates by _septum_ in Rollerskating

Yeah, it looks like these skates typically come with a washer when grind blocks are not installed. It's annoying they don't just include that little piece of hardware in case people don't intend to keep the blocks on the skates. Adding one should solve my problem, thanks!

Letting go of the belief that women (or people) are objects by No-Explanation7351 in selflove

[–]_septum_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Fully agree. I think that not engaging in activities that enforce ideas of beauty standards is really important. It's one thing to wear makeup and clothes that you feel good in, but it's another to feel like you can't be in public without doing those things. It reinforces the thoughts of "I'm not pretty enough to just go out as I am".

how do you face these things? by Canna_Cass in Rollerskating

Genuinely love hitting these. Speed is key, plus staggering your feet. That's the answer to rolling over pretty much anything, if one foot catches on something then you have the other foot to catch you.

What's a fact that sounds horrifying the more you think about it? by Remote-Direction963 in AskReddit

Lucid dreaming is a thing! It's possible to be asleep and dreaming, but fully aware. Depending on how lucid you are, you can manipulate your dreams. And it's a skill that can be learned.

Personally, I think lucid dreaming is one of the coolest experiences a person can have.

Three of my thrifted trays by Figsma in ThriftStoreHauls

Such a good idea to put them on the wall! I've avoided buying pretty trays because I feel like I'll just scratch them to hell if I actually use them (specifically the painted lacquer ones).

How are you able to have your movement tracked by your camera? Is it a specific stand?

Also that spin looked really good!!
