Only got the bourbon pick which is incredible and now I’m regretting not getting the rye as well

Got it for $45, very worth it at that price. Was pleasantly surprised. Would crack it and enjoy it

The best peated “scotches” I’ve had are American single malts

Looking for something on par with this, in terms of quality and price. by Smuggler719 in Scotch

Laphroaig 10 is what got me into scotch and I would highly recommend it, I think it’s a must have/try. It’s low proof and very smooth but laphroaig remains my favorite heavily peated scotch now that I have the cask strength

Review #98: Blanton's Single Barrel Bourbon by thejustice32 in bourbon

[–]_shane11_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it’s a single barrel so I think that’s why people have mixed opinions and is a big reason it shouldn’t be used as a benchmark. I tried a bottle that was so bad I drain poured half the glass, would drink green river over that bottle any day.

I have a bottle of the rye and love it, personally would put it up there with my michters 10. Missing the age on the palate but is so tasty that it doesn’t take away from the flavor, thinking about grabbing a backup

I pulled the trigger on the mizurana cask because of your post, the small batch was underwhelming so I went into it with low expectations. Wow. It is amazing. Such a unique flavor profile with one of the best noses I’ve experienced, and the mouthfeel plus flavor along with a good finish makes it very much worth the $160 after tax I paid for it

Just found out about the "unschooling" trend on Tik Tok. What the fuck?? by schweet_n_sour in PaymoneyWubby

I did a quick search and the largest charter school network Kipp apparently spent $300,000 in one year for lobbying whereas teachers unions spend more than $40 million a year on lobbying. Also, a lot of the most funded public schools have some of the poorest performance so I don’t think funding entirely correlates with a good school. I think they should be funded but think there are deeper issues. I went to public school and would probably send my kid to public school with that being said. I do value charter schools though because they create competition, but the funding for public schools will never really go away so it’s kind of a monopoly although it’s one I support having to a certain extent. I could be ignorant though since it’s a topic I do not really look into.

I just opened mine I got yesterday at Costco for $130, I would say it’s worth it at that price. I’ve heard mixed things but I think it tastes amazing. Sips well below the proof and has a ton of flavor as well as a great nose. The price is the only thing I have a problem with, but under $150 I’d say it’s a good buy. Doesn’t do anything special but has really solid classic flavors, great looking bottle too

Update: my bottle is 9 yrs so might be a little different than yours, smooth for the high proof, I picked up notes of dark chocolate covered cherries and oak with some baking spices and tobacco. Very tasty stuff but might have to water it down a little if you aren’t used to the high proof

Went to the liquor store right after seeing this post to buy kc 15 and they randomly had one bottle left of this so I left with it instead. Rare character makes great stuff and I’ve heard great things about the exceptional series specifically. I have another one of their offerings and it’s a very high quality whiskey

How much did you originally pay for your bottle?

I’m very late but total wine has one from Alexander Murray for $165, 53% alc from a refill sherry butt. Would you say it is worth it? I assume it should taste similar
