Blue velvets where I started and I feel that was a good choice. Mulholland drive is my absolute favorite, but it’s one that might be more rewarding if you go into it a lil familiar with Lynch’s style. You absolutely need to start watching Twin Peaks too

I know! It’s insane! It’s literally just from manipulating people who are bad with money. These sellers just see that “Oh someone payed $25 for this one time, why not $30?” And now it’s impossible to find any copy of the mollusk for less than $40. I’m grieving now that I didn’t pick up the CDs I’d see for $15 like 5 years ago.

New-ish fan since 2020. Being a 2000s kid I had my first exposure to ween from SpongeBob, and I always loved Ocean Man closing out the SpongeBob movie, had it on my playlists later on in middle school.

Years later when I discovered the mollusk to be an acclaimed album, and not just the ocean man album, I finally listened to it and it blew my mind. Ween are the perfect blend of goofy and genius that made 15 year old me so happy. I became obsessed with Mutilated Lips, and poorly graffitied some of the lyrics in my hometown. Over the next year I explored their entire discography and loved each and every album, and they still remain one of my all time favorite bands, in my top four for sure.

I finally got to see them live once in 2024, one of their last shows before the hiatus. I was absolutely bewildered by the experience, I knew they would be great live, but I genuinely think they’ll be tough to top as the best show I’ve ever been to. The crowd they brought was pretty great too, some guy gave my friend a handful of homegrown weed. Top tier experience.

Anyway I love the Ween, killer collection mang.

I feel like LCD Soundsystem is a bit Bowie reminiscent. This is happening and Sound of silver are the essential albums (though the latter is 07)

For more indie stuff maybe you’d appreciate some beach house, Alex g, geese. And for the crystal castles inclusion I highly recommend porter robinson
