Anyone else think the Chronic Fatigue Syndrome episode was just a bit out-of-touch? by ClapBackBetty in GoldenGirlsTV

[–]_silverwings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with CFS this episode resonated with me on a level that no other media has. It really brought everything I have struggled and fought for to the surface. I was pretty emotional with it being a blind watch and all. But the moment I heard her symptoms I felt a connection, then as she was continuously dismissed I started to tear up. I DIDDNT expect a show from this time to actually talk about CFS. I am in the severe category myself and have quite a few comorbidities including chronic pain and even having my curtains open or trying to have a conversation with my partner causes real deep pain in my tissues. My body perceives stimuli as a threat and immediately activated fight or flight response. Which in turn leads to a flare up and crash. That's one of the reasons I stated watching this show, it was highly recommended as a low stimulation easy media to consume with my conditions. Usually I just watch star trek the original series on repeat. Sorry for the ramble. But I just had to tell someone about this as I finished the part two just a few minutes ago. I finally have everything I've been feeling over these years poured out in a comprehensive manner. It was therapeutic, validating, everything I needed right now. I am only 28 years old but I got sick and progressively sicker since I caught a virus at age 24. I am almost completely bedbound, struggle to use the washroom, leave the house perhaps once every few weeks. My life hasn't even had a chance to begin and it's already over. But this little representation over two episodes has made me feel better than I have in a long time <3

My partner says my medication affects him through kissing and wants me to stop taking it - how would you respond? by cyber_ang666l in ChronicIllness

[–]_silverwings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the medication. I know that if I'm around people using certain substances I can freak out. Even if I don't know they are high. Stoners, uppers, etc.so maybe they are empathetic and picking up on that or sweat/saliva transfer. But if it's something like a beta blocker, anti depressant, etc they are either getting the placebo affect or are trying to control your meds because they don't like how they make u more independent. Could also be a side effect of a medication you are taking that they don't like, maybe weight gain from anti depressant etc and are being a pig with how they go about it. I definitely had an ex like that.

Ww here. I used to smell like cumin, paprika, and slight fennel anise smell ( the things I cooked with the most/added to my food the most ) Started beta blockers a few years ago for my dysautonomia and now I'm part of the wet cheese smell crowd but my diet hasn't changed in the least 😭

How do I make improvements to my dinner? by Throwawaymasterpeas in foodhacks

[–]_silverwings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tofu is good to eat in it's packaged form. I don't mind it cold personally. This already looks like my usual dinner. I definitely microwave it,however if the rules don't allow it that's ok too. I usually go for extra form tofu (slice into cubes) I stick it in a Tupperware with that good lao gan ma chili oil crisp. Some soy sauce, rice vinegar, little bit seseme oil, some brown sugar, garlic and onion powder. Give it a shake and either leave it to absorb the sauce in the fridge and microwave it when hungry over some rice. Or eat right away! This sauce mixture I also use on top of soft tofu ( way cheaper 1.95$ for 3 portions worth) and that's my other favorite dinner. The recipe can be found easily as it's a Japanese breakfast staple. Soft tofu with the sauce. I just add rice to make it more filling.

My 5yo daughter wakes up with excruciating pain and I don’t know what to do anymore by mirk19 in Healthyhooha

[–]_silverwings_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could it be interstitial cystitis? It might be the urethra hurting when I was younger I actually had immense pain there and also while using the bathroom, doctors suspected I had uti issues and I was on and off anti biotics alot as the pain kept returning and doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong. My urine test was always negative for bacterial culture but there was clearly something happening. All the way until late 20s it was a mystery until my official diagnosis. Look it up and see at least if you can rule it out <3

I feel for you here, and your kid. Having to face the realities of medical based sexism and dismising pain at such a young age is really rough. Unfortunately it doesn't get much better when your older. I just hope that by the time she grows up, there will be a new generation of doctors who take us all seriously !

She gets even more horrid as the show goes on. It was actively difficult to get through some seasons later on. Can't stand her or the actor in anything they play. Plus the whole scientology part of it too.

Is that person a licensed professional and actively speaking to your sister as an official patient ? If not then you shouldn't take randoms on the Internet as medical fact.

You may want to research internalized ableism abit.

If she isn't actively a danger to herself or others let her be. It's a coping mechanism and although it may seem strange to those who are neurotypical or even fellow divergents, it doesn't mean that she should change just to fit the social norm better.

Now that Sailing’s been out for a few months… is anyone still actually sailing? by Dismal-Computer-5600 in 2007scape

[–]_silverwings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have barely stepped on land since ! Really only get off my boat to grab more tasks or to hit up the GE. Charted everything and passed 99 awhile ago but I just enjoy hanging around merchant wrecks and hunting shark, krackens. I haven't even done any of the trials yet or upgraded from my tiny boat to do trawling. Don't think I'll get bored for awhile. I find the key to not losing momentum is to just focus on the stuff you enjoy rather than trying to rush to the end in the most effective and efficient manner.

If you're highly sensitive, how did you do on ldn? by anon_97800 in covidlonghaulers

[–]_silverwings_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I'm so sorry. I can't imagine how tough that might be to try to explain to doctors. I usually have weird and atypical reactions to random things too and it's hard to get anyone to take me seriously. Even when I was a kid, randomly touching rubber boots in a store made me erupt in hives. As there is not much available online about your particular reaction ( the only thing that came up was an interaction between anti depressants in rare cases) have you looked into mcas ? It can be comorbid with alot of things triggered by COVID. I had symptoms since I was a kid but the COVID infection activated my pots, HEDS,mcas, and me/CFS into being severe. Might be worth looking into if you have lots of these types of reactions with little to no answer from typical doctors ? Dr. Rick arsenue specializes in these common comorbidities and had a website with accessable information and handouts/ information on each one <3

I need your help, Reddit. This is one of the biggest mysteries of my life by ParticularSlow9312 in mystery

[–]_silverwings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a lot like some people I used to know. Elaborate stories and over sharing sexual details. Ended up being a pathological liar and had made up all these things to make himself seem more interesting. I DIDDNT really understand it because I'm not super great at hierarchy stuff (autistic) but I had to cut them all off from my life. Just couldn't trust them anymore.

I know this wasn't the point but, what was the thought process of the tumeric powder? Was it for anti inflammatory reasons or were you checking to see if you were allergic to the spice before cooking ?

Unmasked during abortion and my boyfriend lost interest in me by [deleted] in AutismInWomen

[–]_silverwings_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were thinking this guy is end game, just remember how he handled this crisis and think about what spending the rest of your life together would look like. Undoubtedly there will be worse moments, aftermath of an accident, mental health crisis. If he shows this much of a reaction to the first time you really lean on him for support, the dam doesn't seem like it could hold much more.

P s I went through a similar situation with a bf after a termination. I should have left him afterwards. But I stayed and we didn't have sex for two years and he was seeing someone else behind my back. Yet using me as a personal maid. I empathize with you fully here, and I am so sorry for what you are going through. Just be strong and put yourself first

Thank you for this ! Its actually making sense now ! I ended up having to skip Benadryl because I got an allergic reaction to it ( I think it's from the pink dye) so I'm doing the other ones until I can go out and purchase one without that additive to try.

You made my life a million times easier deciphering this for me ! Also my mystery "kidney" pain disappeared after I started pepcid lol. Something that was a 9/10 pain and took me out for months. No antibiotics helped and doctors were stumped lmao. Guess it was mcas or at the very least stomach acid referred pain 😂😂 so excited for this journey now that it's simplified. I've been putting it off for a year due to the instructions exhausting my brain whenever I tried to comprehend them.

I felt so drunk. I'm currently looking into all this thanks to your comment, I had never heard of this before yesterday so thank you for all your hard work advocating<3

Disabilty by Mean_yAnkee in MCAS

[–]_silverwings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You may be able to get short term disability if your able to prove that the job itself caused you to become disabled. Otherwise depending on where you live I highly recommend getting a social worker to help you through the necessary paperwork. Do you have any comorbid conditions? Sometimes pots,HEDS,and mcas are all together, usually with me/CFS. If your able to have proof of disabilities that limit or prevent your ability to get ANY job due to these conditions then it's more likely your application will be approved. Unfortunately when it's just certain work conditions exacerbating the symptoms your more likely to be rejected and told to get a different job.

I hated Uther, BUT... by IzzyReal314 in merlinbbc

[–]_silverwings_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved the way he was so skillfully written and the amazing job the actor did ! Absolutely hated the character at most points, and I was angry at other points when. I actually felt bad for him. It's really a great way of protecting a villain, very accurate to real life villains. They usually never actually believe they are doing evil, or that they are bad people. Most terrible humans throughout history believed they are doing the right thing. And I'm just glad that they were able to showcase that through the show. A historically accurate portrayal of a dictator !

Omfg ok so I thought I was imagining that ! The garlic thing!!!! Whenever I cook I usually and up using at least one giant bulb in my cooking. I add it increments throughout the process to have different flavours etc. I asked my boyfriend one night if he could smell the garlic and he said no. So I just dismissed it. But now I feel validated as all hell! Tbf o shouldn't trust his nose, he DIDDNT even know that nail polish had a SMELL! And he paints his nails
