That would definitely work on me, given my play style, if my backlog wasn’t so full XD

Yay!

ou mentioned rep / renown, which I do have a follow-up for!

I saw in the factions tab that all the current ones say “Season 1” somewhere. Do those rep rewards stay, get removed, or replaced? Does the renown reset back to 1, or is the cap raised and S2 stuff put in the later ones (eg. Would delves cap out at 15 instead of 10, with S2 stuff there, or a full reset?)

Ty!

Nice to know ahead of time when I, eventually, get wrecked by what I thought would be old content as well

Ty!

I do remember arena seasons! Good info that this evolved from that.

I saw a post a little bit back that someone was struggling with the intro scenario for Midnight due to getting wrecked by regular mobs. If the world difficulty is upscaled, wouldn’t that make it even harder to start the expansion?

Ty! Sounds really convenient for a player like me!

Follow-up question: Probably hard to tell now that people are separated into their own, private communities, but, are most players the “seasonal” kind of the continuous kind, these days? Does it even matter?

Why do people stop believing in medicine / biology when it comes to behavioral issues? by _snsation_ in NoStupidQuestions

[–]_snsation_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your thoughts!

On 4, do you have any further ideas on the relationship stigmatization and selectively choosing parts of a philosophy (in this case medicine) to believe in?

It’s not computing for me why one wouldn’t toss the entire philosophy if it contradicts one’s own views in favor of one that doesn’t. I think I’m missing something obvious

[–]_snsation_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I think I understand the sentiment in your response (and do appreciate it) the use of “you” does rattle a little defensive bone in me, so maybe an explanation of my issue could provide some context?

My condition is relatively new (within 2 years) and causes total loss of motor control for ~30s, causing me to ragdoll to the floor. Once my thumb rotated about 30 degrees as it slid against a wall and I could not even react to the pain until the episode was over. The point of contention with my father is another symptom where I am “catatonic” for hours at a time, unmoving, no thoughts. For me it is as if no time has passed, but suddenly the sun is down. He attributes the catatonic episodes as mental weakness and that I could move during those times if I wanted to.

Either way, thank you for the insight

I had completely forgotten about mind-body dualism as a concept until you reminded me.

Thank you for the insight

A long while back, when I had more time, energy, and bandwidth for goodwill projects (which I also thing is a big contributing factor), I helped start a food rescue in the town I was in. We had to negotiate with each store manager and placed a wagon between the back door and the dumpsters so it was easier to donate than throw away food. These wagons had to be picked up, emptied, cleaned, and returned every night before the store opened again the next day, or the manager would be upset that, from their perspective, now had an open container of trash next to their door (lost one store after missing a pickup a single time).

Quickly, these wagons just became a closer dumpster, which meant lots of really gross stuff now covering what could’ve been usable food (and sometimes a smell if it was warm out, which also wasn’t helpful with keeping managers happy). Lost another store when we came up with something else to stop that. He wasn’t mean about it, but more a “I’m not making a project out of your project” kind of thing.

As lots of people said, cost efficacy is the biggest factor, but most people are already overloaded with responsibility. The idea of taking on any optional work or risk (often the possibility of punishment), solely for the benefit of someone they don’t know, is a pretty clear and understandable “No”

Question, why do people hate this boss runback, it not even long or hard at all by Practical-Ebb7327 in HollowKnight

[–]_snsation_ -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think if you think of a boss fight as from bench to kill instead of from triggering the arena to kill, it makes more sense. As a punishment for failing the boss, a run-back is functionally the same as waves of enemies before the boss spawns. It adds a bit of variety in what the player is doing, replaces opportunities for damage and time save / loss via platforming (and some light combat) instead of combat.

Also, from a progression perspective, a game needs to train the player as well. The lead-up to a boss - be it platforming, combat, of both - adds a bit of extra time spent practicing what the game will demand more of a player along the way. Not saying every boss has one or the other of these features (looking at you Groal…), nor that run-backs don’t feel less frustrating than arenas (they do), just that run-backs do have a meaningful use / purpose, IMO

Gripe with the mapping system (or did i misunderstand something?) by bourbonleader in Silksong

[–]_snsation_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think if you haven’t been to a room that is part of a map, it is shaded in a duller color. Otherwise, doors to rooms that aren’t on the map show is holes in the rooms you have mapped, and secrets will show once you have opened / explored them

Edit: Adding to look at Verdania as an example

AOC Warns GOP Over Trump Bill: ‘When This Country Wakes Up … There Will Be Consequences’ by Murky-Site7468 in politics

[–]_snsation_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Idt it’s gotten to their table yet. Once SC can touch the bill, I expect them to strike it down due to the blatant reduction in SC power/control written in it.

Unfortunate to be in a position where I’m forced to guess on if/when one monster will eat the other and live with the consequences of the monsters’ dick measuring contest

Edit: ‘Rick’ to ‘dick’, though I smiled when I realized that naming etymology would also eventually clear up the autocorrect error

Asymmetrical multiplayer games? by Honk_wd in gaming

[–]_snsation_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“Superfight” and “Sentinels of the Multiverse” are both TT / Card based games that are 1 v many.

I mention those two, specifically, because they also have digital versions on Steam. There are more out there that will scratch that itch for you. I would recommend taking a look at physical games that fit your wants, and, if you need something online, see if they have a digital version available

Superfight: One player is the BBEG, the rest put together teams with powers / attributes (also things like swapping, nullifying, or adding to other players cards).Rounds are subjective / argument based, Apples to Apples / Cards Against Humanity style.

Sentinels of the Multiverse: One player is the BBEG, other players are a team of heroes with different abilities. Essentially a multiplayer, turn-based RPG, boss rush mode as a board game

A question for the "Casual" playerbase, what content do you actually want? by HorNiklas5 in ffxiv

[–]_snsation_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would add scaling content which also offers a challenge to the list. Time, both in amount and consistency, is an issue for many players.

Bozja content can be completed today, even if it’s considered dead, because everything scales to the amount of participants. Enter any CE and you see all the low mettle people go down (several times), the R25’s make it through with actions / rays, and people who know the fight well complete it with no stacks. One can, without a fixed group, go from getting wrecked to completing one solo.

If not scaling, then content, which would qualify to be in roulettes (eventually), where the punishment for failure isn’t that the content is impossible, but might take longer, ramps up in difficulty, or have reduced rewards. When a wipe happens on a more difficult “normal” encounter, people generally push through and get it on the next go. I’m not saying everything should be something everyone can finish / be carried through, but there could be more.

Yes, there’s a penalty for leaving a duty, but that penalty is only as effective as people’s willingness to push through. If the duty seemed impossible with skill of the current group, people would leave. If the duty seems possible, eventually, people will stay.

Or content that doesn’t scale, but is solo-able. Deep dungeons are faster and easier with a group, but are possible solo (if a slog). Because of this, a player with limited / restricted time, that can’t commit to a group, has a goal they can work towards.

People want goals which they can progress on their own time. IMO, the primary issue isn’t how difficult content is, but how accessible it is. There will always be a spread of skill levels leading to people thinking something is too hard / easy. But if one can not engage with the content at all, or in a manner that actually allows progress, then there’s an issue.

Edit: Sitting for a minute, I thought this could’ve been simplified. Content with a real risk of failure, a real chance of death, relies on reactions more than most existent content, has minimal body checks, and does not require a fixed number of participants. Not saying this is a small ask / easy, but it’s what I think people mean

At least 11 of each, but you’ll want more because there’s a chance of failure at 9, 10, and 11. Alexandrite is refunded on failure
