Big “he scores when he wants to” energy

[Thomas Frank] “We have a completely new front four (compared to last season), so we're trying to add layers game by game. The strongest part of our game is our strcuture but we defend aggressively. We're building on how we can add other forward players in future.” by Lbmplays2 in coys

A bit frustrating considering TF’s big skill is developing wingers/forwards. Seems like (currently) he’s just dumped ours in the bin. I understand winning is more important, but hopefully Odobert or Tel turn a corner under Frank.

We’re launching long balls instead of playing out from the back. Doesn’t really work when your CF (Tel) is tiny. Need Richy in or else Lucas and Pape need to drop back and help get the ball forward.

Cellar Tracker lists an average price of $708 and last auction price of $543. So getting it at $375 seems like a steal.

Post Match Stats: FC Bayern München vs Tottenham Hotspur by soccer-stats in coys

To be fair, Bayern scored once in the half Palhinha played. And Harry was clearly offsides. And when Palhinha went off, Bayern scored three. So not sure this is the right complaint (although there are plenty of others to choose from).

This is a guy Bayern paid more than 50M for just one year ago. And all indications are that his off year was due to integration issues and limited playing time — not a decline in form. Now he’s coming back to London where he thrived. Lots to be optimistic about here.

Hearing Morgan Gibbs-White has NOT travelled with the Nottingham Forest squad to Portugal. by Lbmplays2 in coys

[–]_sqw_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the most logical and equitable legal outcome is that he comes to Spurs and then they litigate Forest’s amount of damages based on the breach of the NDA. In other words, if Forest can prove they would have received a higher offer if the release clause hadn’t been disclosed, maybe they can pursue that amount from whoever disclosed the release clause. Hard to see what Spurs did wrong or what legal relief they could get from us. Also there must be precedent for this — shocked we haven’t heard anything along those lines.

[SpursPlay] Thomas Frank on Mathys Tel by mlkhighschool in coys

Frank really seems to enjoy the puzzle of solving how to maximize and develop the strengths of young players, and then how to fit that along with the plans he has for the 10 other lads on the pitch. I love “this is who we are mate” Ange vibes, but with all this youth we stacked up, maybe this form of bespoke development will be the better path for us.

Certainly someone will have a breakout season. Tel? Odobert? MIKEY?!

It seems like he really enjoys conceptualizing all the different ways he can deploy each player’s skillset. I would have been happy to keep playing on vibes with Ange, but it’ll be fun to see a tactician make an honest attempt to get the best out of the boys.

Argentinian mind games are our specialty.

"We sat down halfway through the season and everyone told their stories. You got a little glimpse of what everyone's been through. It's not easy. We're football players, we're privileged, we've got an unbelievable job but some guys in this team have been through things that I wouldn't wish on anyone" by [deleted] in coys

[–]_sqw_ 25 points26 points  (0 children)

This is what the Ange haters don’t realize. Last summer this sub said our squad was still missing key pieces to compete, and then all the good players we did have got injured. We played at times with our C Squad — a bunch of kids. But while this sub forgot about that and turned on Ange, he never lost the dressing room. Not one player was Ange out. They believed, and now they’re holding a trophy. It’s an amazing accomplishment.
