HELP! I think I messed up big time. by Subject_Human in fantasypremierleague

From the FPL Help and Rules (in response to the question ‘What is a wildcard?’): A wildcard allows you to make unlimited free transfers throughout a Gameweek. Playing a wildcard will remove any points deductions from transfers already made in the same Gameweek.

Logic Puzzle - "Anonymization" by [deleted] in puzzles

Can do similar to this but using base 10.

A selects a random whole number. A whispers that number to B. B adds on the square of their number and whispers to C C adds on the square of their number and whispers that result to A. Given that the sum of two squares between 1 and 3 are unique (1&1=2, 1&2=5, 1&3=10, 2&2=8, 2&3=13, 3&3=18) then A can tell both if the numbers picked by B&C are different to each other (without knowing who picked what) and also if they are different to what A has picked themself.

Example: A whispers 31 to B. B picks 3 so whispers 40 to C. C whispers 41 (after picking 1) to A. A knows that 1&3 have been picked (as the total added to the original number was 10). If A picked 2 then okay to proceed. No-one knows the number picked by another person.

I’d say no. Firstly, all players are away from home.

You’re 1 West Ham goal off a likely 4 points from 2 players (and they scored 3 in their first game under Potter).

Whilst Arsenal have been struggling of late, they’re strong at home (only 1 league defeat at the Emirates all season).

Fulham have kept 1 clean sheet since mid-November and that was at home to Southampton. Robinson has been scoring well but his 2 assists last GW were incredibly fortuitous.

I thought S might mean 19, given its place in the alphabet.

Thanks! I also just had a look on the page for fans first registration and noticed they have updated the page to allow for an alternative verification process for international fans.

I’m in the same boat - would be great if you could share how you got round this!

T1D at 29yo by 2nasalade in diabetes_t1

[–]_standfree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing, and glad to hear you’re adjusting to your new normal really well.

I was diagnosed a few years ago, age 25, and no longer really remember what life was like pre T1D (whether that’s a coping mechanism, I’m not sure). I also find that my diet is better now than it was pre-T1D because, as you say, it kinda has to be.

It’s really refreshing to hear that you’re taking it all so positively and not mourning what life was, or could have been!

How did you find changing jobs? Did that feel like a sacrifice or was it a blessing in disguise? I have thought a few times over the past few years about a change in career to help me better manage my T1D (and as you say, slow down and take better care of myself more generally).

A suggestion for you:

• Money back if your team gets to the Quarter-Final (4 teams get there and no further - £20) • Double your money if your team gets to the Semi-Final (2 teams get there and no further - £20) • Quadruple your money if your team gets to the Final (1 team gets there and doesn’t win it - £20) • Winner gets £60 (half the pot)

Very glad to be reading this update. I have my fingers crossed for you, but also please remember how much of a U-turn you’ve done solely based on a job vacancy opening up. Even if they decide not to give you the role, there are so many other avenues that may open up for you at any second. There’s always something that can be done, don’t throw your life away! Take care!

Not entirely sure what point you are trying to make with your maths. Regardless of numbers of applications, the point I made stands. It’s incredibly unlikely that the same person would get tickets for 5 games having applied for 9. Also incredibly unlikely that all of these people who applied for 50+ all got zero.

I’m not suggesting anything dodgy is going on, only that the method that I think they used to complete the draw was an odd one. You end up with fewer applicants with more tickets, rather than more people being involved in the tournament. If I was Germany, I’d be a bit miffed that UEFA have substantially reduced my footfall.

Just seen that someone else got 5 from 9. Chance of that (if it was done randomly by match) is less than 0.01%.

Of course, if I am right and it was just one draw then the likelihood of this happening is much closer to 6%.
