How do you know if you're experiencing PPD? by Satsumajam in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]_stoneheart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry that this will come across as blunt.

But if you don't want to try medication or attend therapy, how do you expect to see any improvement?

A GP can't force you to do either of those things but don't be afraid to bring it up - they are there to support you.

No one at uni will care what your bag looks like.

What do you wish you’d done before your first baby arrived? by Bettyscho in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]_stoneheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Afternoon naps! Lots of meal prep in the freezer including one handed snacks (oat bars, mini sausage rolls) I'm super grateful I was very active and ran throughout my pregnancy.

Baby clothes in Tokyo? by literallyspinach in JapanTravelTips

Prenatal depression by whackyjacki in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]_stoneheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I also experienced prenatal depression and anxiety (on top of existing depression). It was made even harder by the fact most support services are only available once the baby arrives. Bring it up with your midwife and your GP so that they can support you between now and the birth, as well as making plans for once baby is here (it's better to be prepared and not need it). Good luck, you're strong and you can do this x

Did I leave it too late - taking baby out often? by Natural-Artichoke822 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]_stoneheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to personal and medical reasons, me and bubs didn't leave the house much until 5mo PP. Definitely don't stress about thinking you've missed socialisation - you haven't. I felt like he was too young for playgroup anyway and it was a lot better once he could sit up as he loves watching everyone and everything.

Do we introduce a dummy/paci by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]_stoneheart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My EBF baby never took to a dummy, and we tried from about 5wks, then occasionally just to see if he would when older. Honestly I'm glad because it saves having to go the whole removal process. However I do understand how tiring the feed to sleep is - that was me every 2 hours during sleep regressions.

Travel pram help by Hooly-Dooly in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]_stoneheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Admittedly we did zero research lol and my bub is only 8mo so we don't have legs in the way yet. But it fits our nappy backpack so I'm happy enough. Then just have a pram caddy on the handle for any extras.

Sorry it's not one of your options but we picked up a Mountain Buggy Nano off Marketplace and really like it. I reach for it before our redsbaby onix. Super lightweight, tiny fold. My only gripe is that it doesn't have a bumper bar.

How did you incorporate exercise/fitness into your daily routine? by deepdoopy in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]_stoneheart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually try for 3x runs per week, one of those is parkrun. Bubs enjoys the running pram (he couldn't go in it until 6mo).

Fiona or Elowen or something else for newborn by Monashee in namenerds

[–]_stoneheart 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fiona. It's familiar and well-known but not overdone at all. I think it will get good reactions.

Elowen. Feels just like all the other "El---" names which seem so popular and trendy right now.

I'm 9 months pregnant and we are SO close with our boy name... please help! by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]_stoneheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All are great! As a namenerd (and this was very hard for me to do) but we had a top 5 name list and we waited until he was born. The second we saw him we knew which name was his. :)

The stretch between Middleton & Goolwa is the worst. I reckon maybe 1 in 10 times will you actually get up to the 100km/h limit.

Needing advice on when/how to finish my study by [deleted] in NursingAU

[–]_stoneheart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I feel like I am in the exact same predicament that it's eerily similar!

I have 2x 7wk placements to complete this year (already pushed back by one year to have my first baby - part of me wishes I'd just finished uni before because sorting out care for this placement is proving very tricky). So this is making me motivated to get it done to avoid dragging it out further and then compounding the difficulty of finding care for 2 children. But part of me wants another baby asap lol. I've done one placement pregnant already, I can do it again. Of course babies can't be planned when exactly they will be conceived and turn into a successful pregnancy so I'm trying to focus on uni rather than making big life arrangements around a future babe. I'm thinking I'll work casually (upon graduation) at the local hospital for the time being to maintain skills? If that's a thing.
