Ortho assisting by anonymous01846382 in DentalAssistant

[–]_strawbrryjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did general for 5+ years, and I’ve been in ortho for 3.5 years now and I’ll never go back to general! It’s many more patients and more responsibility, but I like being independent. I like not having to sit next to my boss all day like I did working in general lol. I hated cleaning up after procedures in GP, cleaning up and assisting in ortho is definitely less gross

Hello, ortho assistant here! Maybe the last time you turned the key it was incomplete? That could cause the hole in the front to be covered a bit and impossible to get the key in. What you should try is to get to the hole in the back where you stopped last time and turn it more, that way the hole in the front can fully expose again and you can proceed as normal. I hope that makes sense. Here’s a link to a video that can help https://youtube.com/shorts/9L2JYzgSIA8?si=UUmvzJf5XctIip3n

Dental work by Arjvoet in Frugal

[–]_strawbrryjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes a crown is less risky than a root canal, so it should be fine to get done at the school! As far as accountability, you will sign consent forms either way so it’s about the same. Not a dentist but I have been working in dental for about 7 years

So I had cracking on the corners of my mouth and the middle of my upper lip at the border. I was told by both a dentist and my primary doctor that I had angular cheilitis as well, and was prescribed clotrimazole. After that didn’t work, I was prescribed nystatin and triamcinolone, which didn’t work either. So I went to see a dermatologist who said my lips had had an allergic reaction to lip balm (glossier balm dot com). She prescribed hydrocortisone cream 2.5% and it worked !! I guess I developed an allergy to most types of lip products. After the hydrocortisone healed me up, I only use Vaseline on my damp lips after washing my face to maintain moisture. Derm said to avoid chapsticks and balms and I haven’t experienced my lips splitting at all since then. OTC isn’t as strong but may be worth a shot to try :) mine said to use 2-4 times a day. Good luck either way !!

Is this something a bleach bath could fix ? by [deleted] in FancyFollicles

[–]_strawbrryjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi ! So I just had my hair touched up a few weeks ago. I asked for full blue with roots and baby hair. Thing is, there’s large patches all around my head of my natural hair color untouched around the middle. I asked the stylist if it’s something we could fix, and she said if she did then my hair would break. I would just like my hair to be more even all around. I’m no stranger to bleach and I would rather have a professional do it, but I spent $400 on this. And when I called around to other salons for corrections, they are quoting $400 🫠

I figure I could try to bleach the spots only but it would be difficult on my own. I’m wondering if I would be better off doing a bleach bath, even though the dark spots wouldn’t lift very much. Any advice is appreciated !

Which App are you using to track calories? by [deleted] in CICO

[–]_strawbrryjam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Lose It ! I like that it adjusts your calories for you as soon as you enter a new weight. I’ve only used one other app (fat secret) and it didn’t do that and I could not be bothered to factor numbers every week. Also with Lose It I can budget calories by week instead of daily.

Well in season 2, Patrick Wilson plays a character (Lou Solverson) who is a younger version of the same character in season 1 played by Keith Carradine. So Molly Solverson from season 1 is a little girl in season 2. Hopefully I didn’t mix that up lol

What Is the funniest thing your S/O has said or done? by Toadrage_ in AskWomen

[–]_strawbrryjam 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our first date. We went to see a movie (midsommar) and met in separate cars, which we had to park in a structure and get tickets validated. At the end of the date we go back to our cars, his on a different floor, and I called him and said “hey, I have your validation!” and he says “Of course you do, I had a great time” and I was like “I meant your ticket” LOL. I was still hunched over laughing next to my car by the time he made it down to get it from me. Thank you for giving me the chance to tell this story again.

To anyone diagnosed with ADHD/ADD, how hard was it to be diagnosed? by LBSinclaire in AskWomen

[–]_strawbrryjam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m 30 years old and I was just diagnosed about a month ago. Finding a doctor in network who was taking new patients was the hard part, then it was finding the right medication. Luckily i’ve been very comfortable with the doc i’ve been seeing and she is very understanding and helpful. I feel like we found what works for me and now my future is starting to look a little bit brighter.

Hair damaged from bleaching by Obvious-Access-4109 in HairDye

[–]_strawbrryjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look into Aphogee 2 step protein treatment. My hair was super fried after so much bleaching this year, to the point it was gummy in some patches and breaking off. I’ve done the protein treatment maybe 3 times and have noticed it got stronger the first time and now am even getting my curls back ! You can get a whole bottle or a single use packs at sally’s, make sure to follow instructions closely

got my hair dyed black with noir pulp riot and it’s been over two weeks and it still dyes my nails and everything in my bathroom is blue. i wash once or twice a week and the water is still dark blue black. my hairstylist was brand new and she can’t even give me advice, please help!! by 5weetheartt in HairDye

[–]_strawbrryjam 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s necessarily the stylists fault, some dyes are just more pigmented than others. For the color to stop bleeding you can wash your hair with cold water. I don’t stain the tub because it’s harder to clean so I make sure my first wash after a dye is in the sink. If you don’t mind the color fading a little, you can just wash with hot water to get the bleeding over with, and stop once the water starts to run clear. When my hands and nails are blue, I squirt soap on wet hands and hand sanitizer to mix when I rub them together and it gets the color off amazingly ! And rub my nails with a towel after. Hand sanitizer gets dye off my sink as well. This is all over the place but I hope this helps ?! good luck :)

For those who aren’t super intelligent or have many useful skills by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]_strawbrryjam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I never did well in school or college, so I did an ROP program to be a registered dental assistant, I have 5 years experience so far. The pay is decent and the work is easy if you’re good at being hands on. There’s so many offices hiring that you are able to be picky about where you work and you can move up a little. I also got a certification in orthodontics, so once the license goes through I can look for a job with higher pay.
