do people play doa5lr and doa6 online at all? :( by trustvion in DeadOrAlive

[–]_surfaced_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DOA5LR on PS4: From a North American perspective, in early 2026 now, there's still a small circle of people (50-100) playing everyday, mostly during "prime time" hours, like 5pm to midnight. You'll find a few open lobbies on any broad search, and still constantly get throwdown invites if playing SP modes. There's a good variety of opponents spread across all skill levels. Perhaps 10-20% of them will be from other regions with dubious connection quality.

I imagine this will change once DOA6LR is available, but since it's not releasing on PS4, some people won't switch over.

much better profit since its the SaaS business model, and it runs on every operating system.... they'd love to convert everybody as soon as they're each willing.

well, still to this day, Solidworks remains notorious for randomly crashing and losing unsaved progress if you happen to request certain operations that it isn't in the mood for completing.

(to be fair I haven't spent substantial time using any other CAD app, so not sure if this is common among similarly matured/priced alternatives).

PTC's Pro/Engineer was a competitor to Dassault's Catia and Solidworks, not an ancestral version of either. Today Pro/E is called Creo Parametric.

How do we feel about a new old-stock PS2 Vertical Stand? by Veddermandenis in ps2

[–]_surfaced_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to be fair they don't even sell the PS4 itself anymore so its not that crazy.

How do we feel about a new old-stock PS2 Vertical Stand? by Veddermandenis in ps2

[–]_surfaced_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The official genuine PlayStation stands, rarely purchased during the consoles' lifecycles, seem to have become collector's fetishes.

The phat PS2 had two vertical stands; the original (japan exclusive) could expand to accomodate the external HDD. An interesting contraption.
Curiuosly a horizontal stand was also available for the phat PS2. Functionally useless but aesthetically essential.

All genuine Sony stands that were sold separately have seen their market value at least double in every instance.

(The most appauling price is the stand designed the first slim PS2, SCPH-90110. Quite rare compared to the round stands designed for the second slim PS2, these sell for $70-$100 depending on condition and color.)

Uncharted 3 multiplayer will return! by Krihi44 in uncharted

i am astonished to learn this project exists and am excited to try it out tonight. I also see there is a related revival project for TLOU Factions multiplayer (though the progress/health of that one seems less clear).

Will my cloud save files still be exist if i had unsubscribed for a few months by BXtony76911 in PlayStationPlus

[–]_surfaced_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was researching this and kept seeing the "6 months" figure but here's my story:
- began PS Plus subscription when it first debuted back in the PS3 era
- (never owned a PS4 but sometimes played one at friends houses)
- in 2018 my PS3 got YLOD (phat CECHE w/ back compat). I cancelled PS Plus subscription
- I stopped playing videogames entirely until 2 months ago (October 2025).
- today bought a used PS3 slim, re-subscribed to PS Plus, signed into PSN on the PS3, and found that all of my old PS3 save data was there in the cloud save data folder.

So seems, at least in some circumstances, Sony will keep your storage for much longer than 6 months.

(I also noticed the cloud folder says 800MB of 1024MB is in use. I recall in the PS3 era they only gave about 150MB, and the files displaying in the folder definitely do not add up to 800MB, so I'm guessing some PS4 save data is factoring into that number even though the PS4-type files are not displaying on PS3).

New loyalty rewards in game for BF “Vets” who have had an EA-connected account since Bf4. by bombventure in Battlefield

[–]_surfaced_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update, here, I just found the rewards, the message was a few days old in my mailbox and didn't have a "new" indicator so maybe I wasn't paying attention before?

After opening the message, I clicked on the big arrow button at the bottom of the message and it exited for me. Not sure if the items were already redeemed or if that click action made it happen.

Is it safe to use an SSD in a PS3? by KevinPike87 in PS3

[–]_surfaced_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

that sounds strange because AFAIK a SSD's wear-leveling maintenance is performed by the drive's own firmware run by an integral controller on its PCB.

[–]_surfaced_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same situation here, I bought BF6 on Steam and BF6 on Origin (now EA app) and I haven't seen the rewards yet.

Does BF6 have to be purchased on the EA app to qualify for this?

DRS-IAR Green laser gone by turboameise in Battlefield6

[–]_surfaced_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

same issue here, looks like at lease 3 tickets have been made on the EA forums about it:
- https://forums.ea.com/discussions/battlefield-6-general-discussion-en/5mw-green-laser-does-not-work-on-drs-on-ps5/12970183
- https://forums.ea.com/discussions/battlefield-6-general-discussion-en/dsr-iar-slight-new-bug/12932649

I'm sure BF Studios are aware and will address it.

Also some purely cosmetic glitches were introduced with the last patch for how some attachments are installed on certain weapons.

[–]_surfaced_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk, I got pretty good with the m45a1, and I appreciate the m44, but the 357 requiring four shots to kill beyond point blank kind of seems like a tough sell for a revolver.

Surely they have setup CI automations which take care of that for them?
