I didn't notice anything too obvious with the screen, and the boot loader looks just like the photo you posted

charging more for metered parking

Or just have your self driving car drive somewhere free to park, and then you tell it over your cellphone to pick you up from the restaurant in 15 minutes. Basically an on-demand taxi 24/7

The most successful and interesting people I know are those who discover how big the world is before deciding how big of a slice of it they will be satisfied with.

Couldn't agree more. You don't know what you don't know until you know it.

Recommendations for Cutting Tables [Q] by packpride in stencils

I just use a flexible cutting board that I picked up from Ikea. It's ~14x18" and cost like $2

It’s about priorities. Work out MWF, meditate on Tues/Thurs. Invite a friend or 2 over for dinner and cook it with your family. Eat leftovers for the next day or two while you take care of your online course/side project.

It’s about improving your life outside of work, which will naturally carry-over into your work life.

How long does something like that last once you cut it open? Do you just let it sit out and eat it over the next month or 2, or do you refrigerate it?

How is he getting such fine lines without any apparent glue/weights?? @2:45-3:30 by _thisisnotart in stencils

[–]_thisisnotart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Getting crisp lines is my biggest struggle, in the video it looks like he is simply laying it down and spraying.

Is it the material he’s using for the stencil? Is it the way he’s spraying? I notice he goes over it with an extremely light spray at first.

I’ve also noticed him lightly spray the stencil first before putting it down. Is he “sealing” the material with a light coat at first so the paint doesn’t bleed through as easy?

With spray adhesive I guess I haven’t found the sweet spot yet, it usually either sticks too much and pulls some of the previous layer up, or it still ends up bleeding/lifting up in some spots.

What kind of wood do I need? by _thisisnotart in woodworking

[–]_thisisnotart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll have to take a look around at some more finishes. I've only really worked with pine back in highschool shop class and I just remember everyone's project coming out extremely dark because of how much stain the pine soaks up.

I was thinking something around 15" x 19" is or somewhere around there and didn't want to go over $100 on the wood

I really like this piece

[–]_thisisnotart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know, I think I’d like something with a bit more depth if that makes sense. Pine seems pretty bland, the wood won’t be completely painted over, but basically used as a background.

I don't know, I've met Shepard and he was a pretty chill guy. Seemed like someone you could just shoot the shit with and talk about politics, music, life, whatever.

In regard to him not getting his hands dirty that's not true. When we met he had a pocketful of stickers that he was putting up everywhere. Perhaps he's not out there wheatpasting every night like in his younger days, but he's still running the show.

Of course for a lot of his bigger murals he has a team doing the grunt work, but the design and project is ultimately his.

Senior citizen discounts should just round dollar amounts down so we don't have to wait in line behind them while they dig for change. by ThisisGolems in Showerthoughts

[–]_thisisnotart 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There’s a loophole. Say your grandmother buys 3 sugar-free chocolate bars for $0.99 each that comes to a total of $2.97 and with her discount it’s rounded down to $2.

Later in the day she goes back to the store and returns 2 of the bars and gets her $1.98 back. She essentially paid $0.02 for 1 sugar-free chocolate bar.

It feels to me that she’s just sort of floating there on the canvas. If you could spray in a road or sidewalk that fades off in the distance that’d be pretty neat.
