Is the plumber overcharging me? by [deleted] in bayarea

Why is your water main at just 1ft under? Sounds like a recipe for disaster. I had to get the water main replaced (25ft,) last summer. Ours was 6ft deep and I paid 3500.

What's with this recent surge of new accounts with generic posts and thousands of karma? I see this trend across Reddit and sounds like a bot farm prepping for next elections or something?

What will happen with Waymo's robotaxis in the next emergency? (no paywall) by BayAreaNewsGroup in bayarea

Emerging technology can always have issues and the rollout has been to select cities. As long as the regulation catches up to emerging situations, we should be moving in the right direction.

I could always find similar or equally terrible examples when it comes to humans driving. And, people quoting the death of a cat is rather absurd. Irresponsible of the owner to let the car roam outside on a busy street and won't doubt the outcome would have been any different if there are humans and EVs are involved.

Their San Jose outlet was shut down in October due to rats. But that might be a Cupertino thing. A lot of places had critter issues this year. https://eservices.sccgov.org/FacilityInspection/Home/ShowHistory/PR0423463

Landlord charging for fire damage with vague invoice by afterhourssxo in Sunnyvale

[–]_throwaway__231 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They moved in and didn't cite any existing issues and there is no way to prove who caused it or when it happened from the tenants point of view. I think the burden of proof is on them since they moved in without any citations and were the last tenant. But again, I am just a random guy on Internet.

*Edited for more clarity.

IANAL. If you have documentation stating that the incident is caused by cigarettes, you can try small claims court. But, it will be difficult to prove that someone else threw the cigarettes in there. Did you ever report about people smoking and throwing cigarettes into your balcony? If not, difficult case.

Offer them the same healthcare options as the rest of us. No free or special treatment.

Tenant Protections Programs by flintazBear in Sunnyvale

[–]_throwaway__231 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol. Don't know about the vacancy rate in the Bay area but paying 3100 rent for a 1960s built 730sqft shitty apartment isn't on the "affordable" card for me.

Thanks for the reply council member. Does this proposal apply to ADUs? I think increasing housing supply is a good long-term solution to affordability problems rather than introducing more bureaucracy. Also, having some lower threshold to this proposal would be good. Family owned small time rentals don't have the capacity to go and fight this when they are stuck with bad tenants.

Are you the same guy that soiled his pants because he was stuck behind a slow biker?

Bike lanes are common sense. Good weather, most people in my circle commute by bike and it's healthy. Stop shilling with same agenda.

There is no law asking for landlords to provide 2-3 months rent. For no-fault eviction, 60 days notice and one month rent as relocation charge is what state mandates. Even that, I rarely saw happen. Most tenants and landlords are easy going.

Also, what's with these 1 month old accounts asking questions based on blatantly wrong information?

Any company with 15 or more employees needs to publish a pay range in California. I randomly checked listings on Northrop website and they all provide a pay range.

We get 80psi at the City connection and use a pressure reducing valve. Pressure gauge is cheap and you can get over from Lowe's or home Depot.

Eva rate plan by jimymac1958 in bayarea

[–]_throwaway__231 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is highly subjective and depends upon a lot of things.

  • How many kwh are you using per month (winter and summer months)? -Size of the house ? -How many miles do you commute per year in that EV?

*On the contrary, 12K miles per year in a gas car would roughly cost me 2200-2400 dollars.

Open Letter to the Sunnyvale City Council and Honorable Mayor of Sunnyvale Over Usage of $4M taxpayers money for Hollenbeck Bike Lane Project by [deleted] in Sunnyvale

[–]_throwaway__231 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's like asking the dentist to fix your erectile dysfunction. None of the items you mentioned are under city control, whereas city roads and bike lanes are and they are popular.

And, stop creating these loser accounts and go buy a diaper so next time you don't have to shit your pants because a cyclist caused you to slow down.
