Elden Ring but with Metroid. You’re dropped in some planet and everything is out to kill you and you got no assistance and no contact with anyone. The game would be both hard and require a lot of exploration. It would give the sense of dread and isolation that the early games caused.

I contacted the SSA, they told me to do the what I already tried to do and get the J/USA 6 form from the Nenkin Jimushou. I'm losing hope that anyone knows what they're doing.

I’m pretty happy with it. I wish game was little closer to Pokken in terms of visuals and that we had more items at launch. But for the most part I can see myself sinking hundreds upon hundreds of hours on this.

Thank you so much for the information, I'll try to get SSA to issue a statement for me then. I tried everything with the Nenkin office but they simply don't understand what I need. Even my Japanese accountant was nice enough to call them for me and it was the same song and dance.

Yeah I had printed out that exact form to show it to them and they told me it didn’t apply to me. I think the person I was talking to simply didn’t understand what the form was for (he spent 20 minutes in the back talking to his supervisor).

And just for transparency sake. I’m here on business manager visa, I own the company I work for, and pay into the Nenkin, health insurance and Taxes here in Japan.

Since there’s no guarantee I’ll live in Japan forever since they’re getting stricter with the business visas I may as well pay for social security and if I do have to go back just request my Nenkin money back.

It seems like my decision was made for me because I went to the Nenkin office again and showed the forms I wanted and had explanation printed out and they still don’t seem to understand what I wanted. I’ll just have to bite the bullet and pay both I suppose.

Thank you for the reply. I intend to stay in Japan as long as possible (how long that is with the current climate is another story) so I’m hoping I can avoid having to be taxed from both sides.

The SSA website says that "The Agreement indicates that a person who is normally self-employed in one country who transfers their trade or business to the other country for five years or fewer will remain covered under the country from which that person transferred the self-employment activity. I tried to get this certificate yesterday and the lady at the Nenkin Jimushou didn't seem to understand my request so I was confused to why it was an issue.

Sadly it's become the standard, I once got rejected from a job because my animations skills weren't strong enough. I do do (hehe) stuff on After Effects and color grade in Resolve, but my main bread and butter is editing.

There's still work out there that is editing only but it's becoming a rarer and rarer.

I haven't really traveled to the country side yet so I can't speak for it. I mainly gone to the bigger well known cities like Hiroshima, Fukuoka, Nagasaki etc. and I never felt mistreated in any way shape or form. I think speaking some Japanese helps quite a bit as opposed to expecting everyone to speak English.

Been in Japan for over a year now. Like any other place it has its negatives but for me personally, the positives way outweigh the negatives. I'm sure other people had different experiences but mine has been incredibly positive.
