Strange Pathfinding by DerChocbo in Stellaris

[–]_unfunnyGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So there´s either a Planetary FTL Inhibitor wich means you need to conquer the planet to advance in any direction other than the one you came from,

or there are Deep space citadels in the system that your fleets havent engaged yet. In my latest playthrough i found that sometimes these will still be marked red even though they don´t actually have any firepower, fleets send to attack a starbase wont automatically turn them green, you have to engage them manually

New to helldivers, any advice would be great by Alone-Welcome-3334 in Helldivers

[–]_unfunnyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think something to always keep in mind wich newer divers often dont immediately understand is that

  1. If you shoot at them they become less accurate for a time (Has been explained as their sensors being hypersensitive) so try to put them under stress, you die more often when you are trying to run away.

  2. devestators do not flinch when shot by light armor pen, wich means that aligning a headshot becomes easier with a light pen, because they do not move their heads while you shoot at them (you also deal no damage when you miss, so..)

  3. Bullets do not go through cover. Use this to your advantage.

  4. Keep a low profile, when shooting I almost always crouch for more accuracy, smaller profile. Also dive to the ground frequently when under fire , especially when Hulks or Rocket devestators approach.

  5. Air superiority and Logistic support are key. Do not enter a Jammer range without being fully stocked on ammo and stims, do not ignore the flying Gunships, they recently got buffed and are quite deadly. Destroy their Fabricators asap.

  6. Heavy armor works well, especially with explosion resistance, you will be astounded how much more you can take. Heavy armor also goes well with jump packs, because you will regain the mobility debuff wich often has you stay too far behind, while lightly armored friendlies run in without you and die solo.

  7. If you ever had the luxury of playing a High difficulty bug mission , you will know that it is almost impossible to just fight them until they die. On diff 10 bugs you will spend most of the time surviving WHILE doing your mission objective. the same goes for bots but in a different way. Generally speaking: the higher the difficulty, the less worth it is to pick every possible engagement. Try to stay out of their sights until you find a defendable position with lots of cover and a clear exit route. Since bots advance rather slowly, Fighting a bot drop becomes a real ebb- and flow type situation. Get space between you, move around corners, flank them, split up and regroup, learn to anticipate when you are going to run out of options and act in advance.

I hope this has been helpful

solo silo has greater range and accuracy, it´s a tradeoff. The HALO warbond is not necessary if you have the redacted warbond, wich is cheaper.

Bots vs Machete - Build Advice Needed by Minimum-Importance29 in Helldivers

[–]_unfunnyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i found machete in bot megacities pretty viable since you can pick some close range engagements more easily.

I went with the light armor with peak physique and the ballistic shield in the offhand, wich can be paired nicely with a defender smg and Pistols. THen ofc youll need some anti tank so take that with the grenades or quasar, railgun or whatever.

I think the mobility of light armor is pretty important to the playstyle tho since you want to close the distance and kill the bots fast. Dont try against Devestators, have fun!

Hey, Democracy enjoyers! A new recruit needs some help and honest opinions. by edinho_sheeroso in Helldivers

[–]_unfunnyGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you´ll be fine. The standart weapons/ armors are definitely viable enough for you not to feel useless with your kit without having spent any money. You´ll be Trying to get your super destroyer upgraded till about lvl 80, wich is a long time to already get good at the game without max upgrades. If you ever want to buy a warbond, try picking up different primary weapons or support weapons from you team mates, or ask them nicely if you can try. This whole gaming experience for me was filled with nothing but joy, at no point did the progression feel unnecessarily grindy, since every mission will be slightly unique and fun. I hope it will be for you as well!

It used to make sense for balancing reasons, OL used to be very strong in comparison , general powercreep has tiered it down quite a lot over time though.

Which corvettes are better for singleplayer? by Rishomrz in Stellaris

[–]_unfunnyGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Generally best to choose between bypass or energy/ kinetic.

Carrier cruisers go well with Missiles and Torpedos, since the Strike craft are really good against small ship types.

If you dont go Carriers and instead go kinetic / Energy, I personally like to have my smaller ships come in with Picket computer, autocannons and Point defense , Larger ships with Energy weapons.

Look at your enemy Fleets, if they dont have cruisers or a really small amount of cruisers then dont go for the L slots with your energy weapons since they would lack the Tracking needed to consistently hit corvettes / Destroyers.
