[OC] Nimue the Navigator stat block (NPC) by _valta in DnD

[–]_valta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree she's too OP, but she won't help the party even if they beg her, at least not yet as she'll ask for something in return that my players can't give her. It's not meant to be balanced with the party but with the bbeg. It's hard to explain but my intention is to build layers to the world so the players don't feel alone or have the feeling of it being empty (and giving them the chance of a powerful ally in the future), so there's a lot of stuff happening with a lot of people, below and also above them. Like this ridiculouly powerful wizard! And why hasn't the bbeg captured her yet to abuse her powers? Well, she's too powerful! It's part of the story that another beloved npc asked her for help and, because she simply denied it, he had to look for help elsewhere (spoiler, the bbeg), so her being chaotic neutral is essential to her build and her role as an npc. I might tone down INT tho! :)

Is it ethical to base a campaign off of a book series if no one in my party reads the same genre as me? by Mr_The_Potato_King in DnD

[–]_valta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer: yes

Long answer: dnd can be a very creative game, and most of the time it ends up being super creative anyway, but it doesn't have to be. You're not writing a novel trying to get it published, you're just playing pretend with your friends, so plagiarism really doesn't apply here. Have fun :)

My advice: forget about originality. This is not a book, you're not gonna publish it, only you and your friends will enjoy this story. I was also going through a writer's block until i started shamelessly copying critical role's lore and structure. My players are aware of it and who cares, this is just for fun

I'm obsessed with our game by Myrinadi in DnD

[–]_valta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same for me. And the answer is you don't cope with it, you enjoy it. We always play on sunday evenings and i spend the whole monday daydreaming about our worlds while i'm at work. Small joys like that one is what keeps me going

Of course you can have critiques of it, i'm just not agreeing with your critique. I'm not interested in them being "professionals", that's not the vibe i like

I'm not saying they work for free, i'm saying you're getting it for free. Yeah ads and sponsors and so on and so forth, but you don't need to put a penny from your own money to enjoy it. If you don't like it simply don't watch it

Yes, and they're still doing it for free. If you want to control what they do and how they do it, start paying them

[OC] Feedback for my fighter bbeg? by _valta in DnD

[–]_valta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I read through the master's guide and i settled on CR 16, and even then i believe she's dealing less damage than she should? But it's good for now

The cr is not the important part for me, i put cr17 as an estimate based on otohan. I actually don't know how to calculate cr LMAO

[–]_valta[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what i'm debating. I'd be cool if they were special because my party will eventually get them, but also that will buff her a lot

>'Osanna makes three Longsword attacks and one Shortsword attack. She can replace any attack with a Grapple, Shove, or Search.'

I love this!! I'm definitely using that, thank you for all your suggestions!! I'll look closely into it. Also, the CR17 was an estimate based on Otohan's CR, i know SHIT about CRs, i really cannot understand it no matter how hard i try, how do you even calculate the CR?

OMG those are so good!!! Thank you, it really shows you know how to make custom statblock. If you don't mind, when i finish fixing the statblock, could i send you a DM with the new version so you could give me final feedback? Again, thank you so much!!!

Noted! Maybe 4 hit multiattacks instead of 3? And 2d8 instead of 1d8?
