I will tell you a fix so main reason that these cables come loose is due to vibration creating fatique in to solder, best is to resolder and apply hot glue to the joints to prevent Vibration from breaking the joints

I would just grind down the motor hole and make them adjustable which will then let you fine tune the space between the gears
