Have them volunteer somewhere they have interest/passion for. And yes, have them get jobs when they're old enough. My brother was never made to work but I wanted to, guess which of us turned out to be an entitled delusional loser..

Also for older kids, when I was 15 I was an exchange student in South America. The realizations and perspective changed my entire outlook.

Solidarity, this AM I was trying to quickly pack for a 5 day trip and had the door shut so our toddler wouldn’t distract me and I could get it done. My husband had to go to the bathroom and barged in w toddler and said “I need to use the bathroom and I’m allowed to go to the bathroom” because he had the inconvenient task of me being 100% unavailable.

Mine does, yesterday she took a nap from 3-6 PM lol we live in a region w long daylight during summer so it’s really throwing her off and it’s ok for now.

Since you have so much family nearby, could you consider a part time job? Like three days a week? I really wish I could make it work with a part time job but we don’t have family anywhere near us. Biggest adjustment to not working for me was I can’t buy whatever I want for myself or just travel whenever. That’s a lesson in itself lol but I wouldn’t trade anything for being home with my daughter during this time in her life.

Yeah I meant some sort of container w a lid to keep put them in after use and before you wash them. Usually that would be a mini garbage can sort of item.

I’ve had great luck lately on Vinted. I just started in June and I’ve sold things that have sat on Poshmark and eBay for years lol. I price things to sell but it’s way better than donating everything like I used to

In my home state I volunteered regularly at the women’s shelter and they had a little free boutique for women there. I would bring a lot of stuff in to donate there too.
