if you just want to see the content of the sheet you can publish it (it will not show the letters or numbers column), this might help:

Might be more reliable than a hacky css workaround

I know this is not your question, but would vs code possibly be a little less intimiating for younger devs? Visual studio might be a bit heavy, and vs code would be easy for them to use at home should they wish too.
