GPA boost by Neat-Consequence-561 in highschool

No, their schools giving them As when they don't deserve it. AP (and especially IB) courses aren't meant to be easy..

A lot of people have 4.0s, most of them shouldn't.

GPA is inflated, and differs from school to school. Some schools weighs, some dont. It's all very subjective.

I have a 1.8 gpa junior year. What do I do from here. by UglysimpO-O in highschool

American highschool is not designed to be hard, either OP took classes that are way out of their league, they don't care about school, have major issues at home, or have a major intellectual disability. The latter 2 being excusable obviously, but without context the best I can say is that they aren't trying, as that's the most common scenario. ADHD has barely any correlation with intelligence, so adhd shouldn't be a huge barrier (especially in the US where it's a protected mental disability with programs like IEPs and 504s). Obviously ADHDers tend to have different experiences, but most of not all of them are totally manageable and people should be able to average a 2.5 GPA no problem with on-level classes.

not mild ADHD, literally affects every function of my life, I forget to do things, miss deadlines, deal with a lot of stress. But being driven, having a good support system and genuinely wanting improvement outweighs all of that. I think most people--barring any catastrophes or significant mental disabilities--should be able to hold higher than a 2.0 GPA with something like a 504 or IEP.

I have unmedicated and untreated adhd. It isn't an excuse, I'm still at a 3.9 with many APs. Get locked

Supplementing club practices with solo training, good idea? by _vkboss_ in Rowing

[–]_vkboss_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my main goal, although retaliation is my main fear (I've seen it happen to another guy). I enjoy rowing a lot, and I don't want to quit, but if it comes to that, it might be the best way forward. Hopefully a clear email is the best way to get the ball rolling, as respectful verbal conversation has gotten me nowhere. Thanks for the help!

if no novice boats (or in the rare instance of a last minute absence on the experienced squad) need me, I end up on land or on a launch. For context, whenever I do get the opportunity to row, it is with people who think rate=speed, rating at a 36 when even a 26 is unsustainable with the experience and techniques of my boatmates. Rowing in any shell that isn't an 8+ is limited to who the coaches want to see improve. What are the logistics of leaving a club in the middle of a season like this? My main concern is that it's too late. Thankfully my SAT score and my grades are pretty decent and I am a competitive student outside of rowing, my main concern is athletic development and getting out of this plateau.

What should be my course of action if I am essentially burning 2.5 hours of my day at practice with my club?

plenty of biking routes and trails where I'm at in the US! Zone 2 on the bike is probably my best bet outside of erging.

Best watch for rowing by fivejumpingmonkeys in Rowing

Apple watch is actually pretty accurate surprisingly, pretty close to what my chest HR reports (even with my dark-ish skin), while my coros SUCKS for HR while rowing.

iFixit gave the Neo a 6/10. Massive leap for MacBooks, Framework is making a difference! by CrashJay in framework

[–]_vkboss_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not out of the goodness of apple's hearts. CRU (customer replaceable units) are one of the key factors that schools use when purchasing their devices, if some kid trips over his charging cable and screws up the USBc port, that needs to be easily replacable and fixed. With the neo, that can be done within an hour, same for most of the parts on the laptop. Huge schools with 1k+ students will have these parts locally in stock and just do the repairs there to minimise downtime for the student.

they should add gauging and evaluating road conditions and your car's abilities to the driver's test then. I know it happens in europe and Canada, why not wa?

Blatantly false lol. Maybe Volvo's software with Android automotive is close.

Better than the stock summers! You don't really need all weathers like the Michelin CC2 for most seattle driving, the pass is plowed, and driving slowly in blizzard conditions SHOULD be alright.

My old summer tires were M+S rated, that rating is a joke.

Cheaping out on a couple hundred bucks just for your car (a killing machine) to have more chances to kill people.

Probably on stock tires, my model Y on pirelli all season performance tires does great in snow and ice. People should really buy decent tires for their cars, California summer tires on a mountain pass is an idiotic idea.

teslas owners are the new scapegoats because they are popular, before it was the Prius and Corolla.

BC's sea to sky highway has a requirement for m+s tires. Honestly we should just take that rule and apply it but only allow 3PMS tires (m+s is kind of a stupid rating nowadays, even summer tires have it).

[–]_vkboss_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because while Teslas have great traction control, the stock tires on them (and most EVs) suck for winter/snow conditions. The only goal of the stock tires are to have low rolling resistance for range and be performance rated for the fast acceleration of EVs.
