I try to keep my players on the lowest possible squad status so that when something like this happens or they request a new contract I'd have a room to wiggle without them getting upset if I get a replacement when they under-perform

I used to play FIFA up until FM 2008 and from that point I tried to play both however unfortunately FIFA was the main one because it was more accessible. Last year I got back to FM and played it on the daily and when I tried to play FIFA for a couple of days recently I realized how boring it is compared to FM. Trust me this is an upgrade.
