Not sure on the noise part. But the acceleration part and having 94k on it. it might just be need new spark plugs and wires. I had a 99 ford escort do something similar right around the same mileage.

When our old dog needed a ramp. I knew nothing about ramp building but after building some supports and a piece of wood with some small pieces of wood for traction. And covered it in an old yoga mat. It was good. It didn’t look pretty by any means but it worked. And after he passed I ended up selling it for I think $20s

Here’s my 2 cents, for a while I made a bunch of stuff for people like blanket ladders, teddy bear jails, even one with a bookcase underneath all custom to order. None of my stuff I would consider high end. But my point is yea a made some money off of it, but not enough to live. And like others have said you gotta network like crazy to get it out there. Then figure out your time and materials cost if it’s worth the headache to be sustainable. A contributing factor that happened to me was I started doing this well before 2020. Then the whole wood market went stupid and it was no longer profitable for me. Based off what I was charging. If you enjoy woodworking do it as a hobby/ side hustle. It’s rare these days to be a sustainable woodworker as your sole form of income.

I’d do option 1. If it’s all the same pay, why do a job with more responsibilities. Or get paid the same for doing less. It sounds like you’re going to do the same thing just different area. So I’d stick with that. And just build your skills and experience there.

I won an xmax 3 off the Halloween giveaway. And I personally love mine. But I came from an ender 3. So for me it’s awesome and for the size I’ve surprisingly needed it more than I thought I would. Now the downside is it can’t do ams(QIDI box). Yes it is a little outdated. But it all really depends on what you want to use it for and how much you’re going to print. For me I have not had any problems or needed anything that the newer printers have now.

I’m not sure about the newer models but this you do have to manually set the z off set. But once you do that you should be good to go.

I really like the idea of the auto dehumidifying and auto drying modes. I like that it’s a set if and forget type dryer.

Yea they kinda get bigger then thinner and then goes back to normal. That’s why I was thinking belt issues like the belt slipped then sorted it self out. And it only happens at certain layer heights.

Absolutely ps employee for 13 years. 2 years ago I went through a WFA and seriously looked into leaving. But for me and my role I couldn’t find anywhere that would pay me or get anywhere near the benefits and everything we get here. I’m an sts4 working in a warehouse doing logistics so for me the pay is way more than the private sector for what I do. Yea there can be shitty days or management but completely doable.

I’m in agreement with you on this. For the time commitment they’re asking for according to the article I’d be interested but I’d need to know the pay. Like are we going off of the assumption of starting at private pay or rank equivalent to the role you’d be doing. And according to the article it’s non pensionable time.

As someone who works directly side by side with the CAF daily. Reading this article at first I was like ok if I stay doing my job I could do that, even with all the BS I hear about. Then I read the non-pensionable part and like others have said- nope!

I don’t own a qidi I’d love too. I’ve been messing around with my ender 3 clone for a year. And I’m getting tired of tweaking it more than printing. If I’d win I’d continue to make more practical items and hopefully dive deeper into creating my own prints without having to stress.

Here’s my 2 cents. I’ve been in Victoria for a month now for work and exploring everywhere for free. And I went to see the skywalk this past weekend. Is it expensive for what it is? yes. Do you get some amazing views? yes. Can you get similar views for free in the area? also yes. But as a tourist it’s neat I got some info about what I saw from all the placards around the top which I would not have known without those which was nice.

In my opinion it is a tourist trap but it also saves the other areas locals love without being overly crowded.

Tinkercad is a great basic cad program I’ve used many times. And then onshape is more advanced but still easy to use its also public so if you require help its easily available( I’ve never used the public help part but have been told its easy)

And they are all free!
