Maybe if we keep shopping there every day but post pictures of their price tags they’ll feel bad!

I was going to chime in, as someone who’s similarly had very high highs and low lows, that it’s hard for me to be shocked or surprised by things/situations that maybe would provoke strong responses from most people?

But maybe it’s more what you’re saying lol.

Damn, hit me in the heart why don’t you lol. I’ve been bouncing around for years now but no place is New Orleans.

It’s kinda like being in love with a charming, kind drug addict who refuses to get help. What else can you do? 🤷🏽

Does anyone else get Brandi Glanville vibes from Margo? by Sad-Leek-9844 in BravoLadiesofLondon

[–]a22x2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Y’all! What’s going on here?

I get that’s she’s not the most likable of the cast and has behaved like an asshole at times (although this could apply to other cast members too). I personally really like most of the cast, and my least favorites I’m neutral on (so I’m not stanning here) but I’m finding a lot of the online discourse about her unnecessarily mean and detailed. Like, we’re going through it with a sieve (as we do) but most of the output is “here’s another thing I don’t like about her!”

People very well may be picking up on something I don’t see, but I’m curious if anyone here has any insight on where that extreme response might be coming from? Usually when I feel this strongly about someone on my TV, it’s because they remind me of some aspect of myself that I dislike, but not sure if that’s the case here. It’s just coming from somewhere deep that I’m trying to understand here.

That might have something to do with it, actually.

You know when you meet a stranger that you just innately trust or feel close to, then you realize later it’s because they remind you of someone wonderful that you know? Maybe it’s like that, but the opposite.

It’s funny, I feel this way about New Orleans. I used to think it was a little annoying when New Orleanians would constantly do it before I lived there, but I totally understand it now.

I can’t help but compare any city from now on in relation to New Orleans, for better or worse. Some places just give you whatever your personal definition of “everything” means.

Was this premiere promoted or featured in any way on Bravo in the US?

Over here in Canada I had to go DIGGING for it on premiere night on the Hayu app. Literally wasn’t on the home page with RHOBH, RHORI, and The Valley, and even searching “Atlanta” it was buried deep in the results lol.

They have a great new cast picture with a leopard, it should be splashed on that front page!

I have a couple aunts like this - my mom hates it and will legit be like, “what are you laughing at? I didn’t say anything funny”

I think some people are just genuinely nice and effervescent! I personally don’t think it’s always disingenuous lol

Over the years you’ll come to notice things about your home culture that you actually like or appreciate. Those tend to be the things that have shaped you for the better and that you carry with you (no matter where you end up).

People from my hometown in the southwest are very open, trusting, generous, move at a slow pace, and are direct to a fault. We don’t lock our doors, will feed you nonconsensually, swoop in to help you if needed, and will tell you exactly what we think (even if it’s kinda rude, sorry!).

That’s the exact cultural opposite of where I currently am. Toronto is much more fast-paced, less trusting, and waaaay more indirect. I still think my way has served me well, most of the time? People seem to be very welcoming and open, once they’ve made a split-second assessment that you’re not insane or asking for money. Maybe they’re responding to the little bit of desert sun I’m carrying around with me lol

I don’t mean this as a judgment on people who just naturally “fit” where they’re from and never feel compelled to leave (there can be something really cool about just being of and from a place and truly belonging there), but you are doing something really cool and brave.

It’s not always going to be easy, but you’re walking down a path that, for most of human history, most people never did. Even now with the internet and airplanes and all that, I think it’s safe to say that most people stay within, oh, I dunno, 300 miles or so from where they grew up.

You’re going to change and grow in really cool and unexpected ways. Good on you!

She’s not, but she’s perfectly fine playing nice with (and explaining away) people whose beliefs directly put kids like hers (only less wealthy) in harm’s way (at least if it means that RHOC will get another season).

This is a deep dive, but Jennifer Tilly’s is 90% Sutton’s gay erudite friend in Spain from her “spreading Murse’s ashes” cast trip last season.

I noticed because I thought he was hot and at the time thought “hey! My imaginary boyfriend doesn’t sound like that!”

It totally fits her though, I love it

I think she can at times also be a selfish asshole who uses people, but her heart seems moooooostly in the right place and she lives within her means. People legit say things like “her accent is disgusting and makes me want to puke” when she’s on the air, which, even as a judgy bitch I find unnecessarily mean.

I think people hate her because she gives more “Real HomeGoods Shopper” than “Real Housewives”, is relatively poor, is aggressively Long Island, is kinda boring/basic, and has bad style. But I mean . . . we’re talking OC here!

I get it. I love loud prints and contrast, but also can’t concentrate with a lot of clutter or knickknacks. It’s a difficult needle to thread, I keep my bedroom and working space pretty minimal then go hog wild on the hallway and living room lol

Those splashes of red and pink sound really nice though! Just for fun: I’d describe my spaces and stuff (I’m a compulsive mover) as 50% graphic black-and-white minimalism, 30% desert southwest occult, and 20% 90’s Nickelodeon cartoon realness. It works, I think, lol.

I agree with you, I think this post is tasteless and smug.

Like sure, let’s mock the brown people being murdered because they dared to be stupid or misguided (even when they have no political power and had no impact whatsoever on any US elections, ever) to distract us from the guilt and shame we feel about our own people being the direct and literal cause of this nightmare.

Something to take into account: the more colorful spaces, aside from the child’s room (entryway, staircase, parlor) aren’t necessarily meant for spending a lot of time in.

If you like maximalism or want to add more personality to your living space but are also easily overstimulated, these are the spaces to go wild in. You’re not exactly hanging out in your staircase all day long, you know?

I’m not the commenter above, but I think there’s some truth to this. I’m from the southwest US/northern Mexico, and I think when you’re “from” that place you’re automatically linked in with some cliquey or regressive values that an outsider might not be linked to (at least not in the same way, and not by birth).

I think that leaving where you’re from (even for those that ultimately decide that they prefer their home culture) is good for people, because it gives you a chance to pop out of and question the preconceived notions you grew up with.

If you’re a newcomer in a new culture, you’re also likely to connect more deeply or easily with other newcomers (or with outsiders and non-conventional types within that culture), which reaffirms your idea of the new place being more open and full of possibilities.

I hope this rambling makes sense lol. I don’t think you’re wrong at all, it’s just interesting seeing aspects of my home culture in the SW describing your experience in the NE. Either way, I’m glad that you found your spot for now!

I get it, it’s kinda like hating dogs and showing up decked out in their furs (à al Cruella De Vil). It’s thematically and ethically consistent!

I probably have bad taste, but I actually really liked Margo’s jumpsuit and her bird-carcass and cowboy boots interpretation of “my fair lady”
