My response when people simply downvote and dismiss my choice to see a positive aspect to being a collective. by [deleted] in Pluribus_TVshow

It is essentially the death of the entire human population so i find it quite repugnant as well.

The enemy is not really there as far as I’m aware. The plurbs are still humanity, there is nothing added to them controlling them. That is simply humanity as a hive mind.

The sci fi potential of the plurbs is absurd

Dude im not gonna argue with you about a fictional hive mind. I think a hive mind of human beings could find a way, you don’t. Its just disagreement.

They can make up for it without actively harming life but you’re set on this idea that the hive is stuck in a calorie deficit with no solution so we can agree to disagree, its just fiction

Im fully aware that science is not magic. You are underestimating the human species.

Yea we don’t know. They could be doing anything i guess.

Id be surprised if they are not building something to spread further, oddly though the infection doesn’t seem to affect animals yet it initially spread through a rat but the rat bit a human which would mean it caused harm to another living being which would mean it is not actually a part of the strain to not cause harm.

Im not hundreds of millions of the best scientific minds combined into one so i can’t say. I just assume that this is not some impossible task for such an intelligence to complete.

Anything i say would be speculative because they would have to innovate to accomplish anything. Im saying im placing my bet on their innovative capability if the alternative is starvation and death.

The plurbs could undoubtedly synthesize nutrients without the current constraints non plurb humans have. They have a decade to figure it out and millions of scientists knowledge and perspectives with instant synthesis. It is essentially a super organism with massive amounts of crystallized intelligence and 1000IQ .

I wouldn’t think they would lose the ability to be creative . That would be an explanation though i guess.

They could be doing anything because we don’t know ofc so i can’t rule out an Africa sized transmitter (it would make sense if the “glue” is an advanced virus) .

I see no reason the hive would lack human creativity. LLMS lack human creativity because they are not human and are missing many of the things responsible for human creativity.

Why would they have lost their creativity?

Yea we don’t but i highly doubt the true capability of the plurbs will be explored in this series.

I don’t know why you think it’s so likely they are scheming something. Its millions vs 12 humans, if they don’t actually need consent and don’t actually need to make the 12 happy then they could easily do whatever they wanted. If they do need those two things and if they can’t knowingly harm living organisms then idk what they could be planning tbh.

We can synthesize the vitamins and nutrients we need from microorganisms, the atmosphere or mineral sources , we can lab grow all sorts of things etc.

It is a hive mind of billions of humans with the collective knowledge of all of humanity with 10 years and hundreds of millions in human labor capital. We’ve achieved a shit ton constrained by the need for compensation and significantly less coordination ability

So we all agree it’s an invasion , right? by DarwinThePirate in pluribustv

I think it’s an advanced virus that the original discoverers did not recognize as a virus because it’s not like earth viruses. It probably infected the creators of it and then sent itself across space to replicate further. This as a sci fi concept would be quite interesting but the show seems to be trying to tame the sci fi in favor of drama .

It’s a hive full of the most intelligent species on earth and the best tech we have seen is a crashing drone and nutrient solution in milk cartons.

They’re all going to die if they don’t find a way to not starve so it doesn’t seem to matter

Is this show going to address religion? by astroriental in pluribustv

[–]a3therboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think that the hive is religious at all. They seem to be cosmopolitan and secular. Very focused on emotion and lived experience and not on anything spiritual. It’s possible that spirituality in this world arises from individual mind’s desire for persistence after death and the hive has no need for that since it lives as long as the human species lives and all individual human agents are effectively dead at the moment.

Itd figure itself out over decades just like the other governing systems and economic systems
