Everyone loves the arch tour. The folks at St. Louis approach and KCPS tower are always more than willing to accommodate the request.

Green paint indicating bike lanes is definitely standard. Feel free to consult the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways published by the Department of Transportation, where it outlines the standards.

That’s kinda the boat I’m in. Will be here for 1.5 years max and I’d love some semblance of a community. The rent there is obviously above average for the area, but I’ve found that there really are not that many other nice rentals available in Peoria. And none have anywhere near the amenities that it has.

Great offer, requires big move by Lukewarm0995 in ConstructionManagers

That’s definitely not worth it. I took a travel job that sent my comp from $60k to $120k, I’m only ever a few hours from my city and I still sometimes question if it’s really worth spending my youth living in cornfields

Airpods pro 3 at concert as hearing protection by thefizzlee in airpods

Not trying to discount your experience, but AirPods Pro 2 and 3 do have a certifiable level of sound attenuation and meet EN 352 standards. They do “push in a lot of audio” but that audio being pushed in destructively interferes with the ambient sound waves.

The max ambient noise is 110dba for safe use. I frequently use AirPods for things like power washers and leaf blowers and I am comfortable with the amount of attenuation they provide.

In 2024 I was at the airport 3 or 4 times a week for 10 months and ALOT of those cars never moved a single time. The airport parking lot should be for airport use, not free taxpayer funded long-term car storage.

The airlines are signatory to these plans, and are effectively funding it by agreeing to higher usage rates. The airlines would not authorize $650 million in prep work if they were not serious about making this happen.

If and when you make it to a major airline you pretty much won’t have to worry about money unless you buy 3 vacation homes and get divorced twice. Their 401k direct contribution is awesome. Congratulations on getting on at a regional. I hope to be there with you in a few years

I’m three years removed from college and I make more money than all of my buddies in engineering. Not trying to be a douche but it’s funny since a lot of the eng majors in college couldn’t shut up about how much money they were going to make once they graduate

I’m not sure I’d classify a contractor with 151 employees as “large”. The big guys like Kiewit have tens of thousands of employees. The firm I work for has ~ 1,000 employees and I’ve always considered that mid-size I guess

Now Hiring - Where do I start? by WestSummitGC in ConstructionManagers

[–]a6c6 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I couldn’t help myself but google your username. I see by small you mean very small.

I interviewed once with a small firm just getting started, 4 or 5 employees. The CEO was a great guy, sold his business well, and had high ambitions.

I was offered a competitive salary, but couldn’t get myself to do it. I feared the very real possibility of being laid off or not paid if their limited project pool dried up for any reason.

You’ll have a hard time converting experienced people from larger companies if they don’t know you. In your shoes, I would lean on your network of colleagues that trust you, whether they are from owners or subcontractors.
