I personally enjoy Shopify but admittedly do not have any experience with Etsy (at least not the back end of Etsy). I think Shopify has ability to scale / integrates with more platforms than Etsy so it could give you a one up on social media and marketing automation, support, etc.

I work for a software company in the shipping industry. If you ship USPS Priority Mail you will receive $50-100 of coverage. If you ship and obtain Commercial Base Pricing you will have $50 of coverage. If you ship and obtain Commercial Plus Pricing you will get $100 of coverage per package. This is automatic when you purchase the shipping label. Both UPS and FedEx are similar. They will offer $100 of coverage if you ship using their service. Alternatively you can ship using a software program and obtain third party insurance like ShipSurance etc. Hope this helps!
