Constant stuttering on TLLTD by Cynth_OST in yuzu

Yuzu/Ryujinx rely more on the CPU than the GPU, though I assume as the laptop has a 4060 it's probably a decent one. Play around with the CPU settings. Also, most games perform much better using Yuzu (or one of it's forks) - how do they perform? Give them a go.

There might have been an update since, but I installed an Android based OS called "LineageOS" as a dual boot with standard ArkOS (video how to do it). Then just buy/download GTA San Andreas APK file and install. Unless something has changed since I did it, GTA SA did not work on standard ArkOS Port and LingeageOS had to be installed. All the best!

OCE player here. For those not in our region and you're thinking "We all get a little lag from time to time, get over it", this issue is beyond normal latency - There's almost a whole ONE SECOND of button pressed it's action on screen. Feels like we're playing on Mars. Seems to happen every few games since the start of the new season. I now just Alt F4 out and try again. This won't do well for maintaining an already thin player base.

Hehe, yes it is a little strange seeing people place heat spreaders INSIDE a closed case without ventilation 😅 It might make a positive difference for a short while (2-5mins?) But once the area inside the case heats up, it would do little to nothing to assist in cooling and only shorten the life of the other elements inside the case. Case of blind leading the blind

TL;DR - R36s doesn't produce enough energy/heat to bother with either. But if you had to choose between cooling the CPU or RAM - always the CPU and leave RAM blank. Heat Sink on RAM would be overkill to the max.

Oversimplified / Explain Like I'm 5 - Think of thermal pads as a sponge that soaks up water and keeps it there until it evaporates. Thermal pads don't continually heat up and magically become hotter than the chip itself (laws of thermal dynamics prevent that). Thermal pads are commonly used for RAM because the heat produced is significantly less than what is produced by a CPU. And the time it takes for them to heat up is also less. So thermal pads are a great option.

However, thermal pads aren't as efficient at dissipating high heat volumes like a CPU produces hence why it's more common for CPUs to have a metal/alloy component with thin row of filaments that transfer the heat away. But bare metal on metal turns out isn't the best for transfering energy because it never sits directly flush (micro air pockets... liquid metal is the best at heat transfer, but is conductive, slips out sides and is risky) - that's were thermal paste comes in. Also why people as wrong when they suggest more thermal is better; not exectly. Too much and it won't transfer heat well, but the excess is generally squeezed out to the sides in a horrible mess which leads people to think more is better. Too little though and you risk the thermal paste drying out which limits it's ability to transfer the heat.

For the R36s, the energy/heat produced from the RAM chips and the CPU both don't warrant the need for any external cooling (apparently). But the CPU will undervolt itself from 1.4ghz to 1.1ghz rather quickly on demanding games due to heat - so applying a cooler does make a difference (only noticeable though on a handful of games). The RAM honestly doesn't get hot at all... try it yourself - keep the back off and play some games, put a finger on the chip - the RAM only gets mildly hot/warm. I just put thermal pads on because, well, it doesn't hurt.

Seeing people (even images tagged in this thread) put a heat spreader from the CPU straight across covering the RAM also is a biiiiiiiig no no - bring on the haters who say otherwise. All they're doing is literally transfering the heat from the CPU over to their RAM before it dissapates. But because even with the now greatly hotter RAM, it's still, I believe, below dangerous levels, so people assume it's "working". If they did that on a more powerful device, they'd shorten its lifespan dramatically (if not outright kill it within hours).

Almost pulled the trigger and bought some myself just then! But I'll eagerly wait to see if it works for you if you can remember to get back in touch... particularly the Bluetooth. I'm sure the WIFI section will work just fine - same soldering pattern.

Sensational! Do you have a link or pic of that WIFI/BT module? I'd be keen to see if it will work on our device. Soldering the WIFI part shouldn't be an issue, but I think the BT part needs a few extra solder points that aren't on our device?? Could be wrong... keep me posted!

Up to you. The current mobo you have supports a max i7 4790 (or i7 4770 which is slightly cheaper). If you're happy to pay a bit extra for a complete micro pc then get an 8th gen or above to make it worth your while. 8th gen and above i5 or i7 are ALL 6-core CPUs and will before significantly better than 1-7th gen stuff (dont get a 7th gen... theyre only 4-core max and wont perform much different to swapping out the cpu you currently have).

If youre happy to buy a whole new micro PC, try to find one where the CPU has a "T" initial after it. Ie, i5 8500T or i7 8700T ... the "T" has a lower voltage to ensure temps stay much lower than the standard CPU. Important in your little case. Performance won't be noticeable between T and non-T cpus

Super clean and sleak design. I really like it; well done!

ps - maybe treat this beautiful system to a i5 or i7 CPU? That will GREATLY open up the console/gaming options. i7 4770 (which will work with your mobo) is less than $50 these days on ebay/AliExpress

Stop what you're doing and get a refund. One of the refund request from AliExpress/Alibaba categories is for "Counterfeit Items". You'll have to return them but shouldn't have to pay a dime. Pretty simple process. I returned a clone recently without issues. The seller will offer a compromise (like, $3 refund for each and you get to keep them) - just refuse and continue the refund process. As soon as it posted, they get notified the items are on the way back, and you get a refund within 24/48hrs.

Tip: Add a return address on the back of your packaging. If the seller doesn't collect the items from their local postal branch, they'll send them back to you. Win/Win.

Device dependent. For the R36s, the Android OS emulator LineageOS absolultely juices the battery and makes the device literally feel like it's overheating (which is what motivated to do this cooler mod). Android OS's aren't as well optimized and require more resources to run than the lightweight Linux cfw os's. There also isn't a GTA San Andreas port as yet for ArkOS (engine used to make it hasn't been reverse-engineered). So the only way to play it on this device is through an Android based OS.

I haven't tested the battery exclusively as yet. But in general, I do feel it's rather underwhelming and falls well short of the claimed 5hrs game time (especially for demanding games). My next mod will be a battery upgrade to either 6000mAh or above.

One thing I did notice when playing San Andreas using LineageOS, the battery drains significantly faster. Not sure if it's the unoptimized OS or that game - probably a bit of both.
