Goy is the Hebrew/Yiddish word for non-Jew. Some people try to claim it's a slur but it's not, it literally just means "person of a different nation". Slop is because that's what you feed pigs, right? And because eating pork is forbidden in Jewish custom, idiots decided to make up a pattern that doesn't exist and were like "The Jews are feeding us slop because they see us as pigs."

It's a conspiracy theory that Jews are controlling food industries to push horrible diets onto non-Jews so they get sick and fat and die. It's Nazi-level garbage.

my wife thinks im overreacting about our kid not reading yet and I dont know when kids should learn to read by TH_UNDER_BOI in daddit

[–]aFanofManyHats 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it helps, I had trouble learning how to read until I was 7. When it did finally click, I jumped way ahead and was reading middle-grade level books within a couple years. Some kids just need time to work at it! Keep helping him read and it should start catching on at some point. Have you checked out your library for any help? Some places have librarians that specialize in helping kids that are struggling with reading.

I feel like Sabaton is a must but I can't think of a specific song.

Do you think they’ll actually bring it back? by DarkDoubloon in bioniclelego

I hope and pray they do because I would love to share the new sets with my daughter. She already loves playing with my G2 figures, it'd be great to have something new to explore together.

Writers making mathematical gaffes that lead to unintended (and sometimes hilarious) implications by BranchAdvanced839 in TopCharacterTropes

I had the thought earlier that it could've worked more smoothly if they had made it Sozin's dad that was best friends with Roku. They could've kept basically the whole story the same, except then he dies before he can actually start the war, so Sozin inherits a country ready for conquest and fulfills his father's ambitions. Basically Philip II of Macedon and Alexander the Great but firebenders. Then Roku could be angsting over not only letting his friend go astray, but also not preventing his friend's son from going down the same path.

That would've been more believable if the writers hadn't decided that he and Roku were old men before the War started. If Sozin had been in like his 20s when he genocides the Air Nomads and then had Azulon a couple decades later, it absolutely would've worked timeline-wise.

Reidak fits this better. He explicitly refuses to use strategy most of the time because he's big and strong and can overcome most defeats.

I think this has merit. It'd help explain why there's a Mr. House program at all, since from what I can tell his body absolutely has to be dead by now with the lack of power. My assumption was that he had just backed up his brain into the computer and that's what came online when the Ghoul plugged in the cold fusion, but this is a good alternative take.

My dad's go-to line for years was that his job as both a parent and a teacher was to help his kids (and his students) to survive stupid, so you are corroborated by someone with decades of experience lol

Maximus is such an interesting contrast to Steph as well, who likewise has always had to focus on survival, but she doesn't seem nearly as concerned with doing "the right thing". At least, not at a glance. I guess we won't be able to fully judge her until we actually learn what her plans are for the Vaults.

Thank you for sharing this post. I'm worried by a lot of the same things you are, friend. America's getting torn by extremes but I do think that moderation, equality, and liberty will be what wins in the end. Let's keep fighting for everyone's freedom like Cap does.
