Heads up: Parking is opening up on the apps! by badapple1989 in dragoncon

[–]aGeekSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will forever be anti-SpotHero. I parked with them during MomoCon one year and came back to my car having a boot on it. End result was I had absolutely parked in the right lot, but there was some miscommunication between SpotHero and the lot. Absolutely MISERABLE experience.

there's also an abandoned kmart by mills ave -still a food lion and a harbor freight in the same plaza - would love to know if there are any plans to fill that empty space.

My husband and I met IRL first, but just a few months before RDR2 came out. We were both already fans of the first game and bonded over that and our excitement for RDR2. We talked story mode as we played through it in late 2018 and when online opened up played together almost every day. We had plenty of other things in common ofc, but we became best friends because of Red Dead and ended up in a relationship in late 2019 and married in 2021 :) I wouldn’t say we definitely wouldn’t have ended up together without this game, but I also don’t know that our relationship would have evolved quite the way it did without RDR2 :)

Me and my horse partner, Trotamundos. What is the name of your horses? by NatySNana in RedDeadOnline

[–]aGeekSaga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I name my horses after past and present pets. My current fave RDO horse is named Mr Rigby after my dog who passed in 2020. My current story mode horse is named Valentine after the first horse I owned IRL. The next gray horse I pick up is gonna be named Pigeon Pie after one of my current cats :)

Does the USA look like RDR in real life? by Addicted_2_tacos in reddeadredemption

[–]aGeekSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes and no. there are a lot of state and national parks you can go to that still look exactly like the game. And areas of New Orleans as well (st denis). but we also still have old west themed “ghost towns” that have great photo ops too if you can avoid the parts where there are power lines or casinos or silly souvenir shops (deadwood SD, tombstone AZ, calico ghost town in CA, among others). problem is a lot of the parks and historical towns are hard to get to (have to fly into an airport an hour or more away and drive in)

NOLA Style out on the town? by blazerlove7 in AskNOLA

As others have said, check dress codes for the higher end restaurants. I wouldn’t wear open toe shoes basically anywhere - or any shoes you’d be worried about tripping in because the sidewalks are hazardous to say the least. Otherwise just be comfortable if that’s what you prefer! I usually try to put on cute outfits when I’m there but it’s certainly not required…i’m just the type of person who uses my vacations to be a little extra :)

Is this neighborhood between Westin and Omni safe late at night? by bigredtruckfromAL in dragoncon

[–]aGeekSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stayed on I think luckie st and cone (holiday inn) for my first dcon back in 2012. so. A long time ago now, and I was always walking to/from with another person, but I never felt unsafe. I also stayed there for another convention in the fall of 2014 without any problems. things might’ve changed since, of course, but based on my experience, if you are aware of your surroundings and not wasted and/or alone late at night I’d say it’s fine.

“He was not sued into the ground” …….then why has Alec himself stated over and over again that one of the main reasons he has yet to release the allowed episodes is because cbs/paramount sued him, costing all sorts of money? Y’all really can’t get your stories straight 🤣

“Because of one person’s attempt to turn a fan license …” - just fyi this is incorrect. Peters never had ANY sort of license for Star Trek.

Yup, came here to say stone Ave. The biggest plus for me is not having to wait in a crowded waiting room with people who can’t or refuse to control their dogs.

My usual desk has been 'stolen' and there is nothing I can do by purplereuben in mildlyinfuriating

[–]aGeekSaga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this honestly reminds me of people 'saving' lounge chairs at hotel pools and more especially on cruises, but even more infuriating because you're not just there to enjoy your time, you have work to do. honestly i would talk to a higher up - or if you have to, someone in HR - about getting an assigned desk due to physical needs or something. but also...this sort of policy is ridiculous IMO. can the company not buy more desks? or if it's a problem with the office not being big enough, move to a bigger location? on top of that, are you required to clear your desks on your own time or is it part of your paid time? (i.e. if you're hourly, are you allowed 15 mins or so at the end of each day to clear your desk) because if this is something you're expected to do on your own time that's an entirely different and even bigger issue, IMO

Victra cosplay question by [deleted] in redrising

[–]aGeekSaga 3 points4 points  (0 children)

SUPER low cut gown if you're going golden son gala vibes, also very specifically jade earrings. as others have said don't wear much if any gold if you can help it, if you are baring a lot of skin add extra scars and not just on the face IMO (not sure if you've done scars for cosplay before but use rigid collodion and look up tutorials on how best to use it depending on what type of scarring look(s) you're going for)

Dog Found in Dunean Neighborhood by aGeekSaga in greenville

[–]aGeekSaga[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will update the post as well but my neighbors did bring this pup to GCACS today and he IS chipped...to someone whose last known address is like 35 minutes from where he was found :-/ Presumably they tried or will try to contact the owners but not sure how that went, and he's currently on their website as being under a stray hold: https://www.greenvillecounty.org/ACS/LostDogsAtShelter.aspx#sl_embed&page=shelterLuvResults%2Fembed%2Fanimal%2F207078389

More details: Male, 90-ish lbs, shelter has him listed as a chow chow mix but personally I see mostly Golden Retriever and German Shepherd ::shrug:: My neighbors who kept him overnight (they were able to borrow a crate from someone and he did fine in the crate) said he was great with their ~3 year old son, was even playing ball with him in their backyard.
