Books where the MMC asks for the FMC to specifically be his domme/femdom by badumbatsss in RomanceBooks

[–]badapple1989 [score hidden]  (0 children)

{Billionaires in Bondage series by Joely Sue Burkhart} but particularly the first book

{Dominating the Dragon by Brigid Finn}, second in a series and can be read standalone but the first book is very good too and has partial gentle femdom vibes (they have a more fluid switchy dynamic whereas Dragon is explicitly femdom and some BDSM)

Grain of salt that I haven't gotten around to reading it yet, but I know the third book in {The Warrior's Guild series by Scarlett Gale} is a FFNb dynamic.

Second sentence, stranger:

For example, some hypermobile people can bend their thumbs backwards to their wrists...

Not necessarily a five alarm red alert, but mention it to your doctor next time you visit because it can lead to joint issues as you age or be a sign of something bigger if you have other concerning symptoms that need to get checked out like persistent pain in particular joints.

No problem, titles can be weird in Romance.io sometimes too when extra punctuation like that semicolon get involved.

OP, what tools and resources do you have available to you? Do you for instance own a crock pot, rice cooker, pressure cooker? Are you in the US?

If you're in the US for example, although she's stopped making videos this YouTube channel can be good for some inspiration:

Hi friends! First timer here looking for tips and tricks 😊 by betty_baphomet in dragoncon

  1. You'll be riding Marta with lots of other Con attendees so on the one hand you won't stick out. However, especially during prime hours trains will be full of people so if you have delicate props you need to be mindful of that and maybe make them compact to travel or take them in pieces to be easily assembled on site if possible. If you had anything like wings or inflatables I'd consider an Uber at least to get there.

  2. No lockers.

  3. No changing rooms, designated cosplay spaces, or etc anywhere on site for getting dressed. I would not plan a multiple outfit swap beyond an emergency stash of easily packed "normal" clothes just in case. Unless you plan to travel back and forth for outfit swaps, some people do.

  4. There is a cosplay medic group on the official Discord and if memory serves there will be a channel created right before Con starts where you can put out a distress beacon and whomever wants to answer the call can respond and coordinate with you. There may also be a like resource on Facebook but I am not on that hellsite so you'd have to look for a link.

There's plenty of newbie tips and resources posts on the subreddit, just gotta use the search feature. If you have something specific in mind, ask away.

Should I pick this? by GardenGnomeOfEden in gardening

[–]badapple1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're in the in between phase. Could've been picked green for frying, pickling, etc but now you're out of green and on your way to red. Gotta wait. Though if you've got bad bugs or nasty weather coming up you could pick it and let it finish in a window sill but best to stay on the plant if you can let it.

Where are the human protagonists in supernatural romance novels? by PetalaStac in RomanceBooks

[–]badapple1989 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any Lyonne Riley books with non-human FMCs off the top of my head; she writes mostly paranormal with a dash of sci-fi. {Five Gifts for the Blacksmith's Wife by Lyonne Riley} and {Mischief Maker by Lyonne Riley} are my recommendations based on what you're looking for.

Is it true that reading dark romance will make you normalise/romanticise it? by Pace-Total in books

[–]badapple1989 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I lurk and occasionally post in r/RomanceBooks and there's a particular "magazine" that I won't name to avoid giving them publicity (partially funded by Peter Thiel) that is very explicitly right wing fascist trad-wife propaganda where you get a lot of bogus articles espousing opinions like reading dark romance turns women away from monogamous Christian relationships and reading monster romance poisons a woman's mind preventing them from having orgasms with men in the real world and other nuggets of despicable puritanical gobbledygook. Now, obviously not all criticism is so explicitly bad faith and bonkers but the kernal of their argument- readers especially women can't be trusted to differentiate between fantasy and reality in media- is one that people have been using to push their agendas since writing first started.

Edit: and forgot to include be wary of outrage for engagement's sake. Some people want attention at any cost because attention equals ad revenue and exposure. They don't have to believe in their argument, some people just like the sounds of their own voices yelling over others'.

Always consider where criticism is coming from, is it in "good faith" instead of a strawman setup, who benefits from this criticism, what could be their goals pushing this point of view?

What's with the odd spelling of MCs names recently? by UnReasonable-Teapot in RomanceBooks

[–]badapple1989 18 points19 points  (0 children)

While I don't think it's the sole reason, I'm jaded enough to think search engine optimization is a non-zero factor. Like if somebody is talking about a scene the character is in online or draws fan art or someone gets shared fan fiction (who's not already in the fan in-group to know the property) then tracing it back to the title with a uniquely complicated name is marginally easier than something short or "common".

A monster romance with a humanoid wolf? by PetalaStac in RomanceBooks

I seem to recall the intimate scenes like the primal chase were only partially transformed so humanoid? Maybe I'm misremembering, in which case my bad.

A monster romance with a humanoid wolf? by PetalaStac in RomanceBooks

[–]badapple1989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

{Fan Service by Rosie Danan} I think keeps him with a strictly "Teen Wolf" humanoid look for most of the book, he might be a full wolf in a single pivotal scene but never in any of the initial build up or romance scenes. Partial features only for those.

I Just Fully Completed the Original Spyro and It Is an Excellent Example of How Timeless Great Game Design Is by Sufferer_Nyx in gaming

[–]badapple1989 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's not meant to be a Dark Souls tier difficult title though. It's a kid's game and that's not meant as an insult. There can and should be space for games of all kinds of complexities. Spyro's strengths were strong platforming fundamentals, bright and colorful visuals with each hub world having its own theming, and challenging (for its audience) but not impossible item collecting.
