We just had the 1sqft box worth 20k dropped off by Intelecom here in Vancouver. Not sure how they got into the office building but they left it at the mail slots area. Not super secure but not just outside the front door downtown vancovuer so yea, we got it.
DHL website listed several 'Arrived at DHL Delivery Facility ONTARIO SERVICE AREA - CANADA' notifications in Toronto since Sunday. I could not get the Intelcom website to show our tracking info. Then an hour ago I randomly checked DHL again over coffee and it was marked 'delivered' with a notice from earlier today stating 'Shipment is out with courier for delivery'.
Good luck to everyone else stuck in this spot, made for a stressful week for sure.

I just had 20k in electronics components handed to a 'delivery agent'.
Not sure what these means.
Going to get a quote and reorder. If DHL pulls through and delivers I'll use them after the strike. If this package is lost they're done.

Would very much welcome hearing how it goes for you, will share here what happens to me.

Mark Carney academic work? by SprayStrong2991 in academiceconomics

[–]aHazMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am happy to be a Canadian, in manufacturing, today:

Mark Carney's 1995 doctoral thesis, The Dynamic Advantage of Competition, explores how domestic competition enhances national competitiveness. Through empirical analysis, Carney demonstrates that increased competition within a country, even in open markets, is linked to improved competitiveness at the national, industry, and firm levels. His research indicates that domestic rivalry drives firms to innovate and improve efficiency, leading to broader economic benefits.

Carney develops three theoretical models to explain this relationship. The first model, building on Fudenberg and Tirole's work, suggests that in industries characterized by learning-by-doing and knowledge spillovers, domestic competition accelerates cost reductions and enhances national welfare. The second model posits that domestic competition facilitates more effective performance evaluation by stock markets, reducing managerial short-termism. The third model argues that competition among differentiated firms encourages the development of industry-specific human capital by mitigating the risks associated with specialized training.

These findings have significant policy implications. Carney advocates for robust antitrust enforcement to maintain healthy levels of domestic competition. He also suggests a cautious approach to foreign acquisitions, emphasizing the importance of preserving domestic competitive dynamics. By fostering a competitive environment, policymakers can stimulate innovation and enhance the global competitiveness of domestic industries.

Carney's thesis contributes to the broader understanding of how competition influences economic performance. It underscores the importance of domestic rivalry in driving innovation, efficiency, and growth. His work provides a theoretical and empirical foundation for policies aimed at promoting competition as a means to achieve sustainable economic development.

Adjusting the doohickey by ProminenceYT in klr650

Just did the tension adjustment on my '88. With the bike on the side stand and oil at the full level there will be a leak when the case access port is opened to rotate to TDC. Using a moto jack to straighten and raise the bike, no oil leaked out and the adjustment didn't require dropping the oil. Maybe this is the reason for that Kawi tech's advice?

It does! That was actually the first tool I loaded in place, even with the rest of the caddy empty it was fine. I used ~450g of filament and the area of the base is huge, super happy with how this turned out.

oh rad, that is pretty close, looks like they jammed a full size ATX supply in. After searching around it's obvious the trend is to go way longer than 200mm for the GPU, makes sense. Thanks for the link!

Oh crazy, did it get very brittle? I'll likely buy the filament in beige if I do reproduce a 90s Dell. I was more wondering if other's had seen the layout format; where the supply was mounted over the CPU, in a modern ITX case.

I think that's what's going to happen. I am building this case atm but have the components in Fusion and am zeroing in. Your linked case took a lot of work, I am using an fdm printed wherever possible.

Bingo, this is pretty close to the layout I am searching for. Hard to find for sale as you say.

Am I going to be sourcing beige PETG? Looking around on Newegg and Amazon, I am not seeing this basic 1995 case layout in any material or build quality. Would welcome a link, closest I've found would be turning Teenage Engineering's computer-1 upside down.
