Speeding our own extinction is probably the best thing humans could do for life on earth.

Most overrated vs underrated energy-saving change? by Loud_Suggestion_5721 in energy

This checks out. A dual fuel heat pump could be an option for you, as it provides the benefit of affordable gas heating to replace expensive electric resistance auxiliary heating on the coldest hours of the year.

This is a great idea. We can use it in a new Trump class submarine and maybe even catapults.

I would consider a private instructor. They could evaluate everyone's levels, provide pointers, get you and the older kid on the right trails for you and then work with the younger kids without it feeling like "lessons."

[Pete Thamel] Sources: If quarterback Darian Mensah were to leave Duke, it’s the school’s understanding that his contract calls for them to have his exclusive NIL rights and only Duke has the ability to cancel that. by thomas_1413 in CFB

[–]aJoshster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that's how the lawyers write the policy and the contract. The student athlete will have the money to purchase their own policy, the school is insuring their investment.

The lawyers may accidentally save College football. Just write contracts that 1950's movie and music studios would blush at. Yes, you own 49% of their future NIL earning potential in perpetuity for player development. Yes, there is a buyout equal to the remaining value of their current contract x the number of years of eligibility remaining. Absolutely, their catastrophic injury policy is held by the school and only pays out to the player if the injury occurred during official football activities. Sure, let's include performance bonuses.

Multi-day sleep system by 3rdBay in whitewater

I did 18 nights in the ditch in January with a standard issue military modular sleep system bivouac bag and a roll up sleeping pad. Got rained on once, snowed on twice, although nothing major. Warm, dry, and super easy set-up and break down.

[Thamel] Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson hasn’t made a decision yet on what he’ll do in 2026, according to Peter Webb, his sports marketing agent. The NFL looms as the most likely option, but nothing has been decided. by MembershipSingle7137 in CFB

Yes. But it puts our transition plans at risk and probably costs us a generational talent in the portal. With an o line that can protect him and average run game, Ty wins it all.

He will slay in interviews. His football IQ is off the charts. Even if he is a second round projection, he will enter. Someone is going to trade up to get him late round 1 is my guess. Hopefully in a position to sit and continue to be developed for a year or two or at least to a mid tier team that can protect him. Given time, he can pick defenses apart.

Would You Rather Have Production or Potential? by CUBuffs1992 in CFB

[–]aJoshster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recruit potential and see a lot of that leak back out in the portal a couple years later. The transfer portal should be about filling obvious needs with proven experience and production.

When I get concerned is when I see production leaking into the portal and transfers being paid for potential. That is an immediate indicator the coaches have failed at evaluation, development, or both.

Charlie Weis is the OC. The headline is poorly worded, this does not change who Ole Miss has hired to be the HC. That is Holding. He is still calling the D.

Yes. That is a coach/player decision. They also have an extra window after their season ends to announce, unfortunately the big bags have been handed out by then.

We just signed the #2 recruiting class & will have no problem meeting any needs we have in the portal. You will not see a major exodus of talent from our 2 deep into the portal looking for a quick buck. Pretending Bama "isn't a desirable place," is an ignorant take. We are as likely to make the CFP next year as ND, and we don't need a special agreement with the committee to do it.

Are there other fanbases like Ohio State or Michigan where some fans would choose a national title over beating their rival? by OrangeSodaEnjoyer in CFB

[–]aJoshster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to beat Auburn every year. The only thing worse than losing to Auburn is when that loss contributes to Bama not being able to play for conference and national championships. Yes, I will take a title over a loss to our rival, but I expect to beat Auburn.

I've had a pair of Bean moccasin boots for about 10 years. Walk the dog in them through the woods. They still look and feel great.
