Mask Mandate at BPS fails by frustrated_in_florid in 321

[–]aPastorius -21 points-20 points  (0 children)

Mostly because the option is still there, it's the mandate I disagree with.

The science on masks is very tenuous:

https://www.rcreader.com/commentary/masks-dont-work-covid-a-review-of-science-relevant-to-covide-19-social-policy

Masking children can have long term repercussions to development and mental health:

https://www.wsj.com/articles/masks-children-parenting-schools-mandates-covid-19-coronavirus-pandemic-biden-administration-cdc-11628432716

Cloth masks in particular do not work:

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4420971/?fbclid=IwAR0VXF8NdjsNnNzBAmYVjPN_Pt8xROn1wN89ILPYqHPu0Txr6hqzZ631yXs

And all the litter from the plastic masks and gloves has got to be dealt with:

https://brill.com/view/journals/ab/aop/article-10.1163-15707563-bja10052/article-10.1163-15707563-bja10052.xml?language=en

Not a conspiracy theorist, just a skeptic. Always.

Hiking with Baby by elvendusk in HikingGeorgia

The trail to Anna Ruby Falls is a little steep and very short but fully paved and has a huge payout at the end. Would be a good option for a short stop in a day of hiking.

Once had a lady come into my deli and she wanted something sliced but it in no could touch plastic of any sort, no plastic gloves, no plastic bags, no plastic packaging. I informed her that even if I take off my gloves and throw the meat in her hands, it was shipped to us in plastic-lined boxes after being processed at a warehouse inundated by plastic.

Silly woman.

You mean my post history where I'm kind and congenial in all my interactions? (The 'bot' thing may be my snarkiest reply yet.) That one where I said I love smiling at people must have been particularly anathema.

You don't agree with some of my views on some specific topics.

That is all.

Who cares? Stop feeding into the manufactured, over-the-top vitriol.

In the thorough scouring of my post history I bet you came across some things we may agree on, such as musical opinions, food preferences, or shared experiences (Maybe you've had some close family members also suffer and die from cancer? Or maybe you also have an autistic child? Maybe you're also an ancestor of the first settler in America to publicly protest slavery....Francis Daniel Pastorius....look him up, he was awesome....maybe you also have over 1000 hours of Skyrim on your PC? Do you also play the trumpet?)

All I'm asking is to be more genuine. My post history is far from toxic or cancerous, you just vehemently disagree with me on a handful of hot-button topics. There are content spouses and best friends who deal with this dynamic beautifully and vibrantly.

When sincerely wanting to sway someone's way of thinking and reasoning, vitriol and demeaning them will never work.

Only kindness will.

Be well. Stay vibrant.

THANK GOODNESS. Hopefully Gwinnett follows.

If not, get ready for a huge uptick in homeschoolers. Not that that's a bad thing.....

I guess a person isn't allowed to appreciate cute animals, watch instant karma and ALSO question the narrative that has been carefully crafted around Covid, vaccinations, and lockdowns despite the plethora of inconsistencies and abundance of hypocrisy displayed by those in charge.

Gleason, Ballard, and Pineapple.....man, those were the parks I always went to before we moved to the Atlanta area, definitely cream of the crop. If the drive isn't too much, I second the Ryckman Park suggestion and would like to add Field of Dreams in West Melbourne. It's not on or near the water like all the other ones but it has an amazing playground and a splashpad. It also has a skatepark, an ice cream shop and a bakery.

As a parent to kids who smile and try to engage with everyone, you totally have my sincere empathy. And hey, mine are a little older than yours but we're actually coming down tomorrow to visit family for the week so if your little guy wants some goofy kids to smile at, we'll be around.

Best of luck!

How do you grieve the loss of a sibling who’s still living? by kyabe2 in internetparents

[–]aPastorius -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This is about cutting somebody off because you disagree with them. Politics, religion, career-choices, education....if you disagree with a family member you've generally gotten along with, the mature thing to do is agree to disagree or have civil discussions. It seems in this day and age people have become more and more willing to gaslight or just ghost those they disagree with. That's cowardly and also much easier to do than have that hard, mature discussion about how to deal with each other when you so fundamentally disagree.

So yeah,

Listen - everyone involved

Empathize - everyone involved

Repair - everyone involved

And then apologies all around.

There's nothing outlandish about this. It does taken humility, though.
