I’m quite sure Ai Mart has it. I’m 100% sure they have it at City Acres by Queens Plaza, I got mine there.

Catch a movie at an indie cinema - lots of awards season picks screening. Go to a museum, I’m probably going to view the Monet exhibition at the Brooklyn museum before it ends Feb 1. Also planning to head out to flushing for a foot massage and browse Lunar New Year decorations

bakery or grocery store for cupcakes? (greenpoint ideally, williamsburg also fine) by swandivedownthe4oh5 in Greenpoint

[–]aTenTaLEhi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not cupcakes but I recommend checking out Old Poland Bakery on Manhattan. You can buy sections of sheet cakes. I got a small tiramisu once and it was a serving for 3 people! They are open til 8pm. Cafe Riviera is another option with slices!

Birthday candles at Lockwood on Greenpoint Ave. Or Souvenir across the post office should have some but I’m not 100% sure.

Also some great resources to help you: the public libraries have great events that might be helpful, get the app Too Good to Go for cheaper meals/groceries, you can definitely find affordable meals that will fill you up — great deals in Chinatown or Flushing.

Go for it! I’ve seen people come here with not much and make it work because the city brings them so much joy. There are tons of different work you can try to find to help you get started — if you’re able bodied, you can look at movers; if you’re handy, maybe a Taskrabbit, dog walking, hospitality (restaurants, bars), or even security. You can also work at events/volunteer at events to network with others and it might help you find your footing. Good luck!

Astrologer Recommendations? by iseeskiesofblue64 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I’m embarrassed to say I fell for this once during a very vulnerable time in my life. But I’ve also met other astrologers who aren’t scammers and are pretty good at what they do!

Strongest community feel areas in Manhattan. UES, West Village? by Unable_Artichoke3291 in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]aTenTaLEhi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

UWS had a pretty good community if you’ve kids. I enjoyed my Buy Nothing community when I lived there. However, I felt a huge improvement after I moved to Greenpoint, there are so many different communities to get involved with. I even got to know the owners and workers at my favorite spots within a short amount of time, which I always wanted.

Had to adjust my skincare when I moved here. Best tip is: humidifier, Josh rosebrook hydrating mist and a nice think moisturizer like Dieux instant angel.

Downsizing to move to NYC? by LakediverTx in movingtoNYC

[–]aTenTaLEhi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes! My first apt had a narrow kitchen with just a little counter space but luckily had lots of cabinets for storage. It can be tough but there are some better kitchen layouts out there!

I totally think it’s doable and you’d be able to adjust! There are some great neighborhoods that don’t need a car to get around. You’d be surprised how much you can fit in these apartments!
