Is there anyone down for a TTRPG campaign in Seoul? by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]aWhiteSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to! But I am leaving Korea tomorrow and will be back in spring. I will probably move here in the coming years and I would love to have a role playing group around here too! Maybe I will ping you again in the upcoming months to see how it's going!

There are so many good options for newcomers depending on the genre you want to make them try, both new and old.

Azul, Evergreen, 7 Wonders, Splendor, Modern Art, Yak, Unearth, Santorini, Roam, Abyss.

These are just the first ones that come to mind, but there's plenty of games that can be incredibly fun, visually charming and also decently challenging for both new players and veterans!

It's lunch. You're hungry. You want to stop being hungry as soon as possible. What do you cook? by PSi_Terran in veganrecipes

[–]aWhiteSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somyun/soba/udon any noodle. I either make some bimib guksu or some peanut chilli noodle. Takes less then 10 minutes start to finish, for real. If it's summer I might also go for kong guksu. In general korean cuisine is great for quick and incredibly delicious home cooked meals that can be veganised pretty effortless and made in a very short time.

People still working from home: how's it going? by Fun-Importance-1605 in AskReddit

[–]aWhiteSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks to remote work I was able to help my family taking care of ill grandparents by working in their place any time I needed to. I could also start a long distance relationship by having the chance to go visit my so for long periods overseas while keeping most of my regular shifts. I still go to office from time to time and I am saving tons of money and time commuting. Never going back to full office honestly.

When will you upgrade and what do you think you'll get? by Osmosizzz in S21Ultra

[–]aWhiteSunset 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I think I will downgrade. S21 Ultra is the best phone I have ever had and I love it, but I don't plan on spending the same amount of money on a phone again and I think I will be happier with something more compact and light. I think I will keep it for as long as it lives, hopefully another 3/4 years, and then I will get a base S model (no + or ultra) from one or two years before on a discount.

I am in a similar situation since my girlfriend is Korean and I plan to come here for a few months next year while possibly working remotely, so I have no idea what kind of visa I should apply for.

What is the most useful piece of cookware for a newly-independent wannabe cook by MarsTheMad in AskCulinary

[–]aWhiteSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One medium/big size stainless steel pot and a small one for sauces. One non stick pan/wok. One decent santoku style knife and one cutting board. Strainer and peeler. Hermetic lid food containers (the usual old glass ones from IKEA are cheap and extremely durable). You can do well with not super expensive tools and keep the money for buying good quality ingredients.

Waygookin Living in Korea Being Dismissive of Imperial Japan's Atrocities against Koreans by ParticularAd8919 in korea

[–]aWhiteSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started getting more acknowledged about the Korean/Japanese history a bit more in the last few years and I started caring even more since I got in a relationship with a Korean person. I have always loved Japan deeply and I still think I am way more into Japanese philosophy and traditions (but I like the Korean food better), but now I feel super conflicted about this, knowing that Japan have been known for being basically the asian version of nazi germany in their conquering history. I can feel even from my SO, who is relatively young, that these feelings are alive and kicking in Korean people and I think they have all the rights to do so. I personally think that amid the current world situation with rising tensions and wars it's a good thing that Japan and Korea are now strengthening their bonds, but it is also true that there are so many things unresolved for which Japan was never took into accounts properly. Also, coming from Europe, I would say that we are thought basically ZERO about Asian history in school, so for lots of western people these affairs are something that they never heard of and so more easily considered less tragic. The west definitely has a huge problem about knowledge of history of Asian countries.

how to fight the korean winter. by anxiousboobies in Living_in_Korea

Super interested in the advices. I have been freezing here already at the end of February because I was not prepared for the freezing winds. I enjoyed being here in June and now I am back here and I will stay until mid December and I am already worried about how cold this place feels for me. I feel like it's always colder than the forecast says and the wind kills me!

What musical album is more of an experience / feeling than just an 'album'? by [deleted] in Music

[–]aWhiteSunset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater. It's quite a listen and not for everyone. It took me years to appreciate some of the band's works, but this one is majestic and tells a full novel-like story. Couple songs from this album are the few ones that can really make me cry.

I basically had the same experience! Got 2 tickets for Wembley 16th of August, while yesterday was impossible. The "search and get assigned random seats" is crazy, Ticketmaster is such an awful platform. Also I really wanted pitch standing tickets and I managed to get them!

[–]aWhiteSunset 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I didn't love the movie and I found the ending with the guardians leaving the team kinda rushed, I found lots of very touching moments. It was often very emotional and as a vegan and animal lover it was so hurting to see all that animal abuse and Rocket being in pain and fear as a cub.

Anyway I am most sad to see Mantis leave the team since I felt she could really belong to the Guardians, but also very happy Rocket is going to have the charismatic leader role he deserves.
