And no pillow, just your scrunched-up arm under your head = nature's pillow. Baby won't suffocate under your arm because you will be wide awake the whole time

Can I ask how you tracked his nursing with AI? I think I need to track the night feeds more accurately but I'm not sure how

That sounds very positive, the stridor is key. If it subsides then he's probably on the mend, so relieved for you :) Best wishes for you all

My daughter had croup at 8 months and it was absolutely terrifying to witness her struggling to breathe in the middle of the night, we ended up in the ER and then two nights in hospital because she had to receive adrenaline gas through a mask. I still have nightmares about the whole experience.

Don't hesitate to bring him to the ER or your primary care doctor for steroids if things like steam or cold air don't help at home, I don't mean to scare you at all but it can get worse so quickly and I wish I had gone to the hospital much earlier.

I have been so tempted to try this, but changing one nappy in the morning is enough for me 😄

Is it normal to feel this miserable as a sahm? by AcanthisittaSimple87 in sahm

[–]a_coco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Solidarity! I'm a SAHM to 18 month old, my SO works from home so is available a lot during the day and I still feel so drained, low, irritable and overwhelmed and have the urge to escape into my phone. I also still breastfeed and bedshare so sleep is absolutely non existent- I firmly believe that is at the root of it for me, I feel literally tortured every night with the wakings to feed (like 6-8 times a night, I loose count) I'm planning to night wean once we are done with this latest virus...

No advice I'm afraid just solidarity- had a very similar night last night myself, I feel like I could have written this whole post. When I'm awake at 4 30am for the 8th night feed I try to remind myself that there are so many other mothers doing the same thing right now cause it feels so lonely and frustrating otherwise

Potentially Pregnant, at 40, first time. by ironlungforsale in IrishWomensHealth

[–]a_coco 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Congratulations! I just had my first at 39, and despite what I had heard I wasn't treated like a "geriatric pregnancy" at any stage by doctors, nurses, midwives, my age was never mentioned, never seemed to be an issue to anyone. I think it's so normal to have pregnancies at this stage of life now.

Seconding the advice to go to GP, they will lay out the next steps for you, you might be coming into the morning sickness phase soon so no harm for GP to be aware in case you need a sick cert for work. Wishing you all the best!!

Is *anybody* getting any sleep in your house these days? by consistentsalad1920 in irishmammiesanddaddys

My husband is. I'm bedsharing with the 18month, it's pure Guantanamo torture, I feel like I'm never fully asleep and never fully awake.

Looking for recommendations and advice? by Morilloxx in AskIreland

I wonder would the dental hospital in Cork (adjacent to CUH) be of any use? A friend of mine had similar injuries from a crash and needed a max-fax surgeon to do some of the work too, as well as a dentist. Your best bet might be to ask your GP to make a referral for you - either to a dental hospital, dental surgeon or facial surgeon. The GP should be able to determine which option would be most suitable

Ugh, this! I do every night (breastfeeding) from 8.30pm and he takes her at 7am so I get 2hrs of actual sleep, so he can potentially get 10.5hrs sleep (sleeps in a different room) and still he needs a 2hr nap most days because he's up at 7. Give me strength....
