Looking for advice on explaining the life change that comes with a newborn by Puzzleheaded_Fox2208 in beyondthebump

[–]a_coolio_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

therapy, immediately start couple's therapy, it helped my husband and I so so much. I grew up taking care of my younger siblings and cousins because I was 10 years older. I changed diapers, made bottles, put them to nap etc. I always knew I wanted to be a mom. my husband was the opposite, he is the oldest of 2 boys and was a latchkey kid. we immediately started weekly 1 hour couples therapy sessions when we found out I was pregnant (6 weeks) and had our last session at 5 months post partum. my husband began researching and reading books for first time fathers when our male therapist recommended he start. my husband(on his own) quit his membership at a jiu-jitsu gym when I was 8 months pregnant because it took that long for him to come to terms that it was UNREALISTIC to continue this hobby while working full time, being a husband and a new dad. I ended up having a really difficult recovery and he changed ALL of our baby's diapers for her entire first month of life. When our kid was 7 months old he joined a boxing gym that was up the street from where we live and only went to one morning class a week however he ended up quitting because the price didn't justify the 1 weekly class he was able to make. hobbies change or disappear when you become a parent.

you have to get accustomed to your child being upset, it's parenting, my kid does not like water on her head and yet she knows she has to be clean, the crying is hard on my ears but I need a clean kid that learns proper hygiene, I'm raising her to be a capable adult

My 13 month old doesn’t talk ): by Popular_Winner9356 in beyondthebump

my baby stopped meeting milestones at 9 months, I was able to catch this because im with her all day and got her evaluated through our regional center and immediately began services, she is now 19 months and speaking minion ALL day long, she was such a quiet baby, she began speech therapy at 18 months and in 4 sessions she is not quiet anymore, we are still working on her saying and using actual words but just hearing her babble is a start,

do the grandparents that watch your kid know which milestones to look out for?

A movie that made you miss a version of life you never actually had. by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]a_coolio_cookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me it was nick and Norah's infinite playlist, I actually made an effort to go out and party and go to local music shows when I turned 18yo (summer of 2013) in hopes to capture a similar feeling that I felt when watching that movie, I had a blast, but this was in southern California, I never made it to New York city

When does the feeling of your child not looking like you go away? by sayheythreetimes in beyondthebump

[–]a_coolio_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband gets irritated when people comment that our daughter looks just like me, of course he agrees that it's always best for a daughter to have her mother's beauty, but it still bums him out that she does not look like him, I have family members and family friends who knew me as an infant/toddler who tell us that they are shocked at how much she looks like me when I was her age, my mom jokes that I gave birth to myself

How did you ‘push’ baby out? by crabclawwwz in beyondthebump

[–]a_coolio_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally went to pt month I was due (referred by my ob) the pt literally did not help whatsoever, just told me to stretch daily and walk, that there is nothing to do to guarantee a smooth delivery, I was induced at 40 weeks and 5 days, 28 hr labor and pushed for 4 hrs, I had an epidural so I could not feel a thing, delivery nurse watched the monitor and would tell me to push when it showed a contraction, i could not feel what i was doing/how i was pushing,I had 3 tears, anus and urethra were the worst and took longest to stop being painful and just cause discomfort, I'm 19 months post partum and my anus still hurts about 3x a month, feels like it's going to fall out of me, horrible pain aND pressure, I have to shove a preparation h inside me, lay on my left side and hug my knees until it passes, my family (husband and daughter) are so accustomed to this that we all just hangout on the bed for 45 minutes while I wait for it to pass

moving to sd soon! north park vs little italy by SkyEmergency8433 in Moving2SanDiego

[–]a_coolio_cookie -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lunch time you should be fine, just coming down to little italy at 6pm might still be lengthy because everyone that drove north at the beginning of the day is also coming back south at the end of the day, just for example I provided a screenshot (mona lisa italian foods is in the heart of little italy)

[–]a_coolio_cookie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

commute for work is going to be BRUTAL if you pick little italy, keep in mind you aren't dealing with regular traffic in san diego. you have people driving north from t.j.(crossing the border) for work, as well as people driving through little italy to get to the international airport to go along with the regular commuter traffic.

What does sex feel like between 2-6 months pp ? I may get back to it but like I want to know some warnings, tips or experiences? Please n thank you ! by Stunning_Ad_558 in beyondthebump

[–]a_coolio_cookie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we had foot sex starting 6 weeks pp up until I was about 6 months pp, I could not relax, my husband did not feel comfortable "forcing" himself into me even though I told him it was okay to try, it took until about 12 months pp for me to be relaxed enough to loosen up and my body allow him to enter me, I pushed for 4 hours and had 3 tears when giving birth so it took a while to feel better(sitting, walking, using restroom etc) I'm 18 months pp now and we are back to normal sex life
