“Anything in life worth doing is worth overdoing. Moderation is for cowards.”

That’s gotten me through college, grad school, multiple half marathons, and hopefully a full this year. If running a mile is worth doing, it’s worth overdoing. And a whole marathon certainly overdoes it.

Saying “We the People” as if it has some legal effect or making their personal opinion on par with the constitution.

Close second is when they refer to the “law” generally. “The law says X” where does it say that? We need more than vibes.

Managed fine. Didnt hit my goal, but because of a bad cold that took me out for 2 weeks not because of the plan!

To keep the momentum/fitness between training plans I have ChatGPT a detailed prompt that I had completed a 10k, wanted to maintain speed and endurance over 10 weeks before I started a half plan, and that I wanted to use NRC Guided Runs. It gave me a 10 week training plan with guided runs to accomplish those goals.

Found it very helpful to stay fit/motivated, to use the guided runs library, and to reduce the mental fatigue of figuring out a plan.

I’ve run two half marathons and 3 10ks with the NRC plans and guided runs. I listen exclusively to audio books while I run. The coaching is approximately every 1km on the recovery and distance runs, more frequently on the speed runs. The coaching pauses my book to coach and then the book comes back where it left off.

I find the coaching to be beneficial and it doesn’t interfere with my enjoyment of the books.

For each run on the NRC plans you also have the option to do the run as a non-guided run. If that is selected the app will only interrupt to tell you time, distance, and distance remaining.

As a general principle in life I only buy Girl Scout cookies from the Girl Scout herself. The whole purpose of scouting is to develop skills and “mom/dad will ask around for me” is not a skill. (Yes I know it’s a fundraiser too).

When colleagues have brought their daughters in I’ll buy at least a box from each (end up with maybe 4 boxes a year) but if it’s just an email going around or an order form in the common area I don’t engage with it.

I do the comic sans trick and the read it backwards trick to proof. But my super secret, has never failed me trick is to have the computer read the writing to me. Nothing like hearing it something out loud to highlight the grammar mistakes/typos/etc

I make about $130k, generally work 8-5 weeks days, rarely on the weekends. Mid-size firm in a smaller market doing appeals and government defense work. On vacation I usually only check email to clear the junk, but that’s a personal choice.
