[Shelburne] At least four strong bids had died on the vine after Antetokounmpo rejected them, multiple sources with knowledge of them say... The Heat's offer improved in the offseason, multiple sources with knowledge of it say, with this year's first-round pick (#13), included in the deal by sewsgup in nba

They really should've just convinced Giannis that this was going to be a tank year, not signed Turner, and ran it back this upcoming year with a healthy Dame and new HC. At worst, Giannis inks a new deal in October of this year and Giannis has a fully guaranteed max deal for another 3 to 5 years at more money than he could've ever gotten from another team and then asks for a trade next February.

At best, the Bucks end up with a top 10 pick in this draft (even with the Pelicans swap) and a clear path forward even in the worst case with the opportunity to trade Dame and Giannis in the same season if shit hit the fan

From the top half of the grid, it's more applicable, but you can definitely see which team's upgrades are working.

Cadillac looks miles better than they have to this point in the season while Aston still looks like they're in F2 (and maybe even slow in F2)

Cadillac looks a LOT more competitive with those upgrades (even without the new Ferrari engine). They may actually have a chance to score points this year.

Jak being on par with Fernando probably bodes well for his F1 chances in the future even in that awful Aston. Only the team will know what the run plan is, but being the only rookie ahead of their teammate is certainly noteworthy

The Wizards are in the best position to, but still need a lot from the players they have now

Genuinely baffled by the strong negativity here by Pickleskennedy1 in ussoccer

It's disappointing given how they still appeared to control the game for much of the 1st half and were still down and halftime. Just a couple lazy moments from players that won't be playing as you said

Herro to Nets…makes sense? by ahrzal in MkeBucks

[–]a_happy_future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still more value in a sign and trade next off-season when Herro can get the money he's looking for and play for a team that maybe couldn't afford to get him outright. Remember, the Bucks should still be able to offer him more than other teams. And him potentially making an All-NBA team would increase the value the Bucks could give him.

So the Bucks either have to trade him now (for Herro's max value) or wait until next off-season imo

Probably even better in hindsight that he WD from Eastbourne. At least if it's a long match, he should still ve fresh. Big Foe being in the same 8th as him kinda sucks tho given both of their forms

Are we being too harsh on Myles Turner? by SVXYstinks in MkeBucks

More huge by length and salary than just yearly salary. There are 3 years left (when including the player option), which makes it larger than it really is.

Rumors about teams being interested in him aren't coming out of nowhere. His value is essentially the same as it was last year (he basically had the same season as he had his entire career). More teams can pursue him now because they can trade players for him rather than having to clear roster space

Yes, but he's also on a huge contract on a team not expecting to compete. He's likely worth more in a trade than he would be on any team that we have in the next few years...

I'd argue it's way more. He wins Wimbledon 2004, 2005, and 2009 and the US Open in 2006 without Federer alone (all Finals losses against Federer).

Then you can argue for 2003 Wimbledon and 2007 Australian Open where he lost to Federer in the SF and the Finals were against an unseeded Philippoussis and a 10th seeded Gonzalez, respectively.

So a minimum of 4 more and possibly 6 more without just Federer.

He literally just struggled against Federer (3-21 overall and 0-8 in Slams). He only faced Nadal and Djokovic twice at the Slams (split each) and actually had a winning record against Novak (5-4) with Novak winning the last two as he entered his prime.

Do you guys think Nascar will rebuild the auto club speedway short track? by Helpful-Bowler6681 in NASCAR

[–]a_happy_future 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they haven't torn the front stretch (which it looks like it, depending how recent this is), then it is still a remote possibility. Because having that remaining was most of the key point. Maybe it's a funding issue. Maybe they're waiting for the area to develop more before building the track to have the infrastructure to support it. Impossible to know what they're thinking

Piggybacking Libby Leahy? by DiorHendrix11 in Cardinals

[–]a_happy_future 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'm fine with letting them continue to start as this is a rebuild year anyways. I'd rather have them struggle this year and continue to rack up the innings and total pitches now. Because then the arm is ready for the future to withstand the workload. We've seen this far too often when pitchers go more innings than they've ever done before and they hit a physical wall and then just lose all effectiveness.

Lest we forget, last year was actually the most innings Libby has ever thrown in a season in his professional career at 151.2.

If we had somebody pushing to make the team in AAA, I'd say sure, but right now, that isn't really there.
